Anyone still fishing?

Post by OZZIEOHIO »

With the hot weather lots of people stop fishing, I went out one evening last week to Hammertown and caught 9 bass there was 2 of them that was close to 2 pounds. I only had 2 bass the first few hours between 430 and about 8 or 830. Then in the last hour before dark they turned up the bite. The cousin with me had none untill the last hour, then he ended up catching three, and my son caught 1.

I went out and caught about 200 minnows with a net the other day and then went fishing in swan creek for about 20 minutes and caught 5 bass, 3 blue gill, sun fish and snagged a big beaver!!! I took all the bass and minnows to a pond that I just built last year with my tractor and grador blade... The pond is a circle 30 yards long all in any direction and is 9 feet deep... not that big of a pond but it is in a spot that takes time to get to so it wont get fished much and it will be awsome when it does get fished!!! I have only put 7 bass in there that are not minnows so far and about 30,000 minnows or creek chubs! It also has lots of bull frogs in it and a tree right at the edge of it that you can climb up easily to hunt deer or what ever you want!!! I plan to catch more bass and stock it up to about 15 bass by the end of the summer... I dont think I am going to put any blue gill in there though, do you think I shoud? I thought I would just stock it with alot of minnows every year and let the bass eat them instead! Does anyone think I should try it a different way and if so then how haha?!!!

Went camping and fishing with the family this past weekend. It was hot but the bass were bitin hard around daybreak and dusk. Early Sunday my 5 year old daughter caught a huge bass with her Barbie pole. She cast, hooked and reeled it in all by herself. It was a fish any pro would gladly put in their keep and the biggest anyone caught the whole weekend. Definately a proud Dad moment. We were fishing with good ol nightcrawlers and caught it about 6ft off shore.

Sure did Ozzie. I'll post it once I download it off my camera. Funny thing was that when she hooked it I thought she just had a little bluegill until it came up to the surface and I said, "Oh that ain't no bluegill". She was all excited and it nearly pulled her in. She leaned forward a bit and then got it under control and realed it in. Too bad we couldn't keep it cause it would've made a good sandwich or two.

Did I say sandwich, I meant....Oh nevermind  I hear you can eat the smaller ones but the big one's tend to be oily. Hey we're just city folk anyway. At least you spared me the huge laughing smiley.
