No one I know buys the daily times anymore just for reasons like that.

Re: Portsmouth Daily Times strikes again!
Knowing the times he probably actually made the shot and they just screwed up the caption.
Speaking of the Times. Did anyone else notice that in Sundays(Feb 8th) sports section there was a story about UK losing on a last second shot to South Carolina and they made it seem like the game was played the day before when in reality it was played the weekend before on that Saturday(Jan 31st) and this same story was in that Sundays(Feb 1st) paper. How do you mess up that badly and run the same story twice.

That UK thing appears to be a mistake. Reading it here was the first time I heard about it because I was off this weekend. Though looking through the issues, I didn't find it in the Super Bowl edition (Feb. 1) so it looks like we just ran it a week late. I apologize for that mistake.
I won't be posting further on this issue but the shot in question was indeed missed. The time on the clock in the picture doesn't match up with the shot log.
When we make mistakes we deserve to be called out on it but it is my policy to generally not get into debates on the forums.
If anyone has anything else to discuss they should feel free to contact me at (740) 353-3101 Ext. 242.
I'm always willing to listen.

You two clowns condoning stuff like this crap put out by the times is the reason why I cancelled my subscription to that joke of a paper. How about print something positive from the game?
I remember a few years ago whe n the boy from Burg dropped the pass for the two point conversion in the regional final game against Amanda Clearcreek, that was the picture they ran. Do you think the boy felt bad enough as it was and then they go and plaster the pic on the front page of the sports section?
If the Times keeps it up they will be out of business in a few years.

We are now accepting donations to our scholarship fund.
Each year we will give an award to the kid whose parents, family and community have conspired to turn him or her into the biggest Candy-Arse.
The annual banquet -- the SOBBIES -- will be held each year at Fred's in Wheelersburg.
You can call 1.800.CRY.BABY ext. WAH for more information.
and when the graduate from High School they can join the west va. Crash, and become big time Candy- Arses

Re: Portsmouth Daily Times strikes again!
I seriously doubt that whoever was responsible for the pic and caption wanted to point out and try to embarass the kid who missed the layup.
Whoever was responsible was probably just trying to have some art with the story and that pic may have been the only pic that turned out well. It was an oversight!
People are talking about wanting to give kids a break; how about giving whoever was responsible a break? Do you all want an apology? Will that apology magically erase that pic from all of the papers? It cannot be taken back, but I bet that person would take it back if he/she could.
I retroactively influenced you into cancelling your subscription to a newspaper with a post I made yesterday? I must be some sort of genius. I must have an IQ of 160. I am going to be a general some day ( 50,000 points for a paraphased Forrest Gump reference) How about learning how to communicate coherently?
and the line about printing something positive... Let me guess, if a kid fails every subject in school, you want the teachers all to write something positive on his report card - something to the tone of " Johnny really, really tries hard and does his best". What a load of crap! I believe Sean Connery said it best in The Rock: "Your "best"! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f *** the prom queen" ( 1,000,000 points for a Sean Connery quote)
WTF?

I doubt the kid even cares what the caption said, just happy to get pic in paper.
However can't recall ever seeing a comparably negitive caption in any other paper about a HS player.Neg caps about the Browns were plentiful however.

Move on. I sure hope that PDT won't be out of business in the next few years. I think we have enough worry right now about keeping jobs in our area.
Re: Portsmouth Daily Times strikes again!
This is the only thing that I have ever commented on about the PDT, so his remark had to be about this particular statement.
I also belive that you totally missed the point of the Forrest Gump reference - meaning that it didn't take a genius to figure out that it would be impossible for me to make him cancel his subscription, when I had never dealt with him in the past. It was not me tooting my horn and saying, "Hey, look at me; I am a genius."
You have no room to ever judge my comprehension of anything. At least I know to put question marks at the end of interrogative sentences.
