Re: Peake and Westfall
Congrats to Westfall on the win and to Tartanblue for knocking off another top 5 seed to advance.
Re: Peake and Westfall
Great game by both teams, Peake dug themselves a hole and couldn't get all the way out. Westfall is long and lean and can really rebound, the point guard is really tough. The peake refuses to lose and just keep coming at you but they didn't have enough in the end. Congrats to Matt, Travis and Kyle (seniors). Great game by Mr. Webb with 32 points, you all will be missed.

He is a good player and tough. I don't know what happened if he was sick or what but he threw up by the scorers table, sat out one play and was right back in the game.

He wasn't sick...just drank too much gatorade!

Am I the only Chesapeake fan a little upset that Cheapeake lost to an opponent that we were supposed to beat?
Chesapeake was a #1 seed and lost. To me, that is not a good thing.
Two years in a row Chesapeake has lost in the district semi's, something has to give.

Re: Peake and Westfall
I know that Chesapeake was the #1 seed but that doesn't mean no one can beat them. People have over looked the Westfall Mustangs ever since the Sectional Championship game. The have been the underdogs everygame and they have proved that they are the real deal this year. So don't be mad at Chesapeake because they got beat by a very good team.
Re: Peake and Westfall
I understand you are trying to be kind and support your team, but Westfall wouldn't be in in my top 20 teams I have seen since say around 1996.
They were a quality team, but Chesapeake should have beaten them. I am upset, and I think that settling for the district semi's will not due at a place that has been to the regionals several times.

I am a Chesapeake fan who is very proud of our team. Yes, I am upset that we lost, but very excited about where our program is going and who is at the helm. We had a very talented group of young men this year. I'm sure if you know any of these boys, that you know we have a reason to be proud of the players they were throughout the entire season, and a reason to be excited about where the awesome experience of being a part of a team that truly played as a team will take them in their future. Coach Davis is more than just a basketball coach. He cares about his players and chooses to teach them character along with skills. I truly appreciate all that he's done for our team. So, I'm not sure what your thoughts are when you say "something has to give"? My thoughts are that we had a great season. Our boys played with lots of class. We were in the District Semi's. And yes, I want to get further than that too, but I'm willing to be patient. It will come. As a community, we need to remain positive and be encouraging to the boys returning next year and be thankful for the quality of coach we have. It was a great year and there were lots of amazing moments! I'm excited for next year already! Go Peake!
Also, best wishes and congratulations to Kyle Webb, Matt Angle and Travis Zimmerman. You've been a pleasure to watch over the past few years.
Re: Peake and Westfall
I am very proud as a former player and graduate of our team regardless. I am not really certain what direction our "program" is going to tell you the truth. I, like many before me, was a part of a great program, and I recognize when we are on the verge of something great. I honestly just do not see it at this point.
I think Coach Davis is a good person from what I hear (I do not know him). Chesapeake has great kids, and I do know a few of the current players, and the people of the community are also great people. Like most coaches, I am sure Coach Davis cares about his kids; just as Persin did for us.
I have watched several games this season and last, this team does play hard and I recognize that. This team and last however, do not play with the swagger I am used to seeing. I find it hard to believe I see any kind of defense being played either. I think Coach Davis is outstanding in the way he gets his kids to perform on the offensive side of the ball, but I just do not see that effort on the defensive side of the ball (just my opinion).
I like most in our community know what it is like to get to the regionals, and that is where I personally want to be as a program.
I look at our schedule, and I have a hard time finding a team that was better then average that Chesapeake beat (terribly coached Huntington High, maybe an average Fairland). This is why I am uncertain of where our "program" is at. I do not want to settle for beating average teams and not beating the good ones, being a pretty good regular season team, or getting beat in the districts every year.
I do wish the departing seniors good luck and best wishes.

Getting to regionals is a great thing, but if that is where you want to be as a program you are crazy! The goal at the begining of the season is a state championship. That is where i would like the program to be, not just district or regionals every year. The Peake had a great year and they did beat some good teams no matter what avalanche might say.
Re: Peake and Westfall
Avalanche,
I guess if you aren't happy, you need to take it up with your boy CB. Evidently he didn't get the job done with this group with they were in Buddy League. If he would have instilled that swagger and championship attitude at such an young age, it would have stuck with them through high school.
Oh wait, they were too busy running through walls to learn any useful basketball skills.

Congrats on a fine season Chesapeake!

Re: Peake and Westfall
My goal for the program has always been a state title, but baby steps. It is easy for an outsider to say, oh don't listen to so-and-so you had a great season, but when you are a part of the community that is used to winning, then I feel I have every right to voice my displeasure. My goal is crazy??!?!?! I can think of only a few coaches who actually make it to the regionals on a consistent basis, who is crazy now?
When you are the coach at Chesapeake, expectations are very high, that is one of the discriptions of the job in my opinion. You are expected to win, and for the most part Coach Davis has done an outstanding job doing this. I am just displeased with a district semi bouncing.
Coach Davis did an outstanding job his first season. He took his team back to Athens and that is great.
This season the regular season was pretty good, but we got the same result as last season. That is a step back in my opinion.
My opinion may not seem popular, but that is how I feel. Also, I sure haven't heck haven't seen very many former players at games either.
JR,
I really don’t know why I even choose to respond, but in the sake of sanity I guess. I never implied CB should be anything more then what he is. I showed respect to a man that I thought should be honored on a thread I started, and was taken in the direction of honoring asst. coaches. I see nothing wrong with this or anyone else who chose to do so.
I am trying to figure out why it is that you have such animosity towards a man that someone chooses to say nice things about, because someone respects him. I guess I am wrong for brining up someone and saying nice things about them.
One thing I do however find amusing, is the fact that you can hide behind a screen name, and get away with regularly being negative about an individual. I know that if you were to say such things as you have to me, to him face-to-face, now that would be very amusing.

Re: Peake and Westfall
I think what it is the fact that our recruiting budget was cut drastically after Persin left and we aren't getting the outside kids like we used to. Also since the sewer was put in and all the DNA quit going into our drinking water, the quality of Chesapeake players at all levels has diminished. I think that is where the swagger came from. It was passed through generations of great players, but the government had a conspiracy against the Peake's successes through the years so it installs a sewer system and will do even more damage with the newer model sewer system. As for CBall nobody was talking about him, so no need to bring him up in this conversation. I want to congratulate the Peake on a fine season and best of luck to the seniors in their future endeavors and I look forward to what lies ahead for the Peake BB program.
Re: Peake and Westfall
I realize that Chesapeake has a really strong condition, but it was obvious last weekend that Westfall had the better team. They were bigger, stronger, and quicker. I thought Chesapeake competed admirably considering they just were not as good as Westfall.
Re: Peake and Westfall
Chesapeake does have a strong tradition, and Westfall was a good team. With five senior starters you would expect that but(Webb was the best player on the floor). But I for one am proud of the panthers and their never say die attitude, hey if we eliminate some silly mistakes we are in the District finals, but every team that loses could say something like that. As far as peake fans criticizing their team that is unacceptable,be proud of your young men and move on. Hey Westfall, this panther fan wishes you all the luck in the next round.

Your right you have to take baby steps which is exactly what they are doing. You cant expect Coach Davis to come in and pick up right where the program used to be.
Many times we got to regional finals and lost and nobody was voicing their displeasure, but im sure they wanted to get to state. If you are displeased with this teams accomplishments keep it to yourself and give these boys some credit.
