Warren vs. Chillicothe @ the convo 3/5 8PM
Re: Warren vs. Chillicothe @ the convo 3/5 8PM
The kids and the coach is not looking past Warren of because of the early loss, but that was early and when it comes to playing rematches the CAVS are great!(Ironton,Zanesville) If Chillicothe plays with the same intensity they are known to paly with it's going to be a blowout! If Chillicothe plays to their level of competition it will be a close game! I have to think that the CAVS learned from that earlier loss and will come out very well prepared!!! GO CAVS!!!!! REFUSE TO LOSE!!!

I believe the Cav's has the best shot to make it out of Athen's.Having seen both teams play i believe Chillicothe will "D" the hell out of Warren and there are to many mismatches to factor in to.
So i'll be rooting for my rival in Chillicothe....Go Cav's

Hats off to Warren ..this was a great game . Cavs held composure down 6 in 4th . Big shot after big shot from each team . I was really impressed w/ 23 of Warren .. he abused our press and hit alot of other shots. Caleb and Michael really held it together in the 4th and we hit our FT's . it wasn't pretty but it is a win ... Great job Cavs !!!

Re: Warren vs. Chillicothe @ the convo 3/5 8PM
Not many post on a great game tonight. I am sure there will be comments over the next few days.
First off....Warren has Chilly's number. There are certain teams that for whatever reason you don't play well against and Warren is our team this year.
Second....Warren has a tremendous coaching staff. They have done wonders with this young team. IMO, they executed their game plan to perfection. They ran their press breakers and they got the ball to the rack in quite a few 3 on 2 and 2 on 1 situations. Only when the Cavs went to the Diamond or 1-2-2 and aggressively trapped did we get some momentum and turnovers.
Third....Warren shot the ball lights out and finished well around the rim.
Fourth...Warren executed their defensive game plan to perfection. They shielded a body towards Dawes all night, so he could not get open looks. They rotated very well in their zone. Fortunately Chilly has great interior passes and both Knights and Turner took turns late splitting the seams in the zone to get to the paint.
Now for the Cavs......Remember, all we have to do is advance. We avenged a tough defeat a month ago in which I screamed bloody murder. Tonight I thought even though there were tick tack travels on both teams all night, the officials did not interfere as much as I feared when I saw the crews. Both teams had people in foul trouble early in the 4th. I believe only one fouled out (#44 for Warren).
Coach Kellough said he needed Knights, Smith and Dawes to step up tonight. Anything from the others was gravy. Well, Warren took Dawes out of the game on the perimeter (he finished with 8 and probably took 5-6 shots). However, Smith had a monster game on the inside. He and Volkinburg crashed the boards (both offensively and defensively) and got it done. Knights hits some huge driving pull up jumpers and calmly knocks down free throws late to help seal the victory.
The gravy tonight came from young Mike Turner. Compared to the game he played down on the river, Warren was not expecting a 20 point outburst. Mike took up the slack from the outside and continual got to the rack and made plays. A great 3 point play (old fashioned) in the 4th helped us get over the 6 point deficit.
Going forward, we have to get better on defense. I heard Coach K. time and time again pointing out kids out of place. That was uncharacteristic for us, but it is District tourney time. We are a veteran ball club and we have to play like it. We live and die with our D.
We also have to get some more production out of the bench. I am not just talking offensively but defensively as well. London and Thompson got precious minutes tonight and as the tourney goes the bench gets shorter. We have to get energy minutes out of them and also make some plays. I thought London was in position to get some nice offensive putbacks, but Warren physically went after him and claimed some balls he will learn to grab ahold off and just "Throw it down big fella".
I am just glad we advanced. Very few teams get to a District final and we know get another SEOAL foe. I missed the GM vs Marietta game but understand Marietta just dominated. We look forward to another rematch next Friday. We had the upper upper hand on the Tigers early this year, but if you look at their schedule, they have played very well sense. We will see a different team. Hopefully our team will have improved also.
Finally, we are now 8-1 in the last 3 years at the Convo. Our kids play well there and IMO, our below par game may have been tonight. We had one of those last year, so I am hoping it is just one this year. Now it is another week, before we lace them up again. Can't wait. This team comes from 6 down with 4 minutes or so to go. Their backs were against the wall, but they deep down "REFUSED TO LOSE".
Yes, it is Basketball 30 at the Convo and it is just beginning. Lets see who is going to go for the long ride.
GO CAVS!!!

Great basketball game, both teams layed it on the line. Chilli was able to do some things this time around that they didn't at Warren. 1) Offensive rebounds 2) Perimeter shooting 3) Foul shots
Warren was able to claw and fight back into it a couple of times with stubborn defense. They did everything they needed to do to give themselves a chance to win this game and easily could be the team moving on. Chilli just looked like a team that had been there before and Warren committed costly turnovers at the wrong time.
Congrats to Warren on a great season, get used to seeing them at the Convo because they are young and talented and have some great Freshman on the way.
Goodluck to the Cavs...it should be a great game with Marietta.
