Re: Oak Hill Vs. Waterford
I actually thought both teams played very methodically. Every possession counted. It may not have been pretty from an offensive standpoint, but it was definitely a stressful, exciting game to witness. And just because your team didn't score many points doesn't mean they didn't play well. There are more ways to win at basketball than scoring, and Oak Hill proved it today. Stop saying they can play much better. They are winning and that is all that matters. Maybe they are playing their hearts out and the other team is competitve enough to push them to the brink. Just because OH is not beating weak conference teams by 40 doesn't mean they aren't playing well.

Unfortunately, this game was horrible to watch...the most boring game I've ever witnessed.
It seemed that Cunningham could have dominated, but played away from the basket 15-18 feet most of the game on the offensive end. This was the first time I seen Waterford....do they always play the 6-11 kid away from the bucket?

I think he was a little timid inside against the big men from OH. He wasnt knocking down the 15 footer so I dont understand why he didnt try to post up a little more

cunningham couldnt get a shot off because he couldnt stand the pressure of oak hills defense. every time he got the ball they were sending people from all sides.

Thats basketball its going to happen in the next level. he needs to not bring the ball so low when he gets it pass to him

Being 6'11, not a whole lot of people are gonna take it from him if he keeps it up. If he's gonna play D-I then he oughta learn that.

Re: Oak Hill Vs. Waterford
After reading some of these posts, I really wonder who was watching the game, or was just there, watching 10 kids run up and down the court.
Oak Hill put a lot of bulk on DJ, and triple teamed him every time he touched the ball. Instead of fighting through the defense and establishing position, he settled for what they gave him, and took alot of really bad shots.
End of story. Had he fought through the triple team, and kicked it back out as soon as he was tripled teamed to an open shooter, maybe things would have been different.
Bottom line, both Cunningham and Strahler forced way too many shots and played into Oak Hill's defense. That was probably the main story of the game. If you were there and saw it, it is hard to argue that it wasn't a deciding factor in the outcome.

Nice to see that someone else on here watched the game!!!! Thank you Steely Dan!!! Oak Hill applied pressure and Waterford had a hard time dealing with it. That was the plan and it worked. Points scored on either side (22---32 doesnt matter). Coaching and execution won the game.......PERIOD

Steely Dan calls it like he sees it. You may or may not agree with him, but his posts that Ive read are called right down the line. A straight shooter.

Re: Oak Hill Vs. Waterford
Not to put down the rest of Waterford's team, but at the next level (DI) Cunningham shouldn't have to worry about the triple team as much because there should be more than two players on the team willing and able to step up and take a shot. Waterford probably got as much from their players (none of which transferred to Waterford) as they were going to get. They would have had to play a perfect game to beat OH. I wouldn't argue too much with Dan's assessment.
Re: Oak Hill Vs. Waterford
Yeah, Cunnigham may not be triple teamed at the next level, but he also will not be gaurded by 6'3" ~ 6'6" kids either.
Hey may turn around and actually looking eye to eye with his defender, or have to jump to block a kid.
If he goes to D1, best of luck to him. I'm sure there will be people watching him from SE Ohio.
