Why just Catholic?. Why not Christian schools?. Everybody thinks this is all about athletics but in bigger cities these schools simply offer a better education. Believe it or not education is important to alot of these people who choose "Private over public". Yes some are out for nothing but athletics but not all.

Re: New Division for Catholic Schools
In some cities where the public schools are on academic probation, the State provides "vouchers" for low income families to send their children to private schools. I am sure some of these athletes have benifited from that system as have non-athletes as well. Smaller cities with Catholic schools are having a hard time keeping their heads above water.Being a Private school has done little to help Ironton St.Joe, Portsmouth Notre Dame, Marion Catholic and Bellaire St. John's to dominate in anything.

Re: New Division for Catholic Schools
While that may be true, what about Newark Catholic, Zanesville Rosecran, Fisher Catholic, Delphos St. Johns, St. Henry, Lima Central Catholic, just to name a few, that have been very, very successful.
Then you can throw in some of the Christian schools as well (Harvest Prep, Troy Christian, just to name a couple), that have been successful as well.
There are others from both a Catholic, and from a private school standpoint, that have enjoyed a great deal of success in athletics. Let's not lose sight of that.
My focus has been on the smallest school division. Look into the bigger divisions, there are even more examples that are more pronounced in terms of success.

St. Henry is a public school, though they have dominated in atheletics.

Re: New Division for Catholic Schools
I haven't heard anything about a new Private school division.
I am sure that those schools would not be happy about it though.

I don't think it would be fair to lump all "private" schools in one category. I don't know for sure about all of the schools named above, but I do know that some of the smaller ones like Lima Central Catholic and Delphos St. Johns do not recruit - most of those kids have lived in those towns their whole life and most of their parents also attended those schools. Recruiting for athletics does not take place in ALL private schools.

True.
I hope they don't do anything like adding a private school div.

I don't want to see any more divisions......we have 4 already and that is enough.........public schools won 2 of the 4 state titles, so they accounted for themselves very well.........

My bad. I was going off the top of my head. And no, I was not implying that these small schools that have had success all recruit.
