Wellston always has one which is pretty good. They have atleast 10 teams in it every year.

Wheelersburg always has a summer program, I know that multiple teams participate in it, and it is very competitive! A few Teams in the past have been, Portsmouth, Rock Hill, East, Green, and more teams I can not think of at the time. Teams usually play 5 or 6 quarters, or as many as time will allow, and is officiated by refs from around the area.

Why will he not be back? Did something happen from the end of the season until now?

Surely, they can't hire Derrow back? What a travesty it would be for the kids of Wellston. I would assume that if the young Derrow is running the summer league than the older one can't be to far behind, pulling the strings if you will.

Somebody tell me what happened to the coach last year that he won't be back? Have they hired Derrow back yet?

I haven't been on this site for a long time and after reading the above post I now remember why I quit reading it. My understanding of the Wellston sitaution is that the suspension was for one season and a summer. I would guess the assistant coaches stepped up and did the best they could. They suppose they knew the interim tag was attached to their new roles within the program. The assistant coaches have very little experience and were very young in terms of age from what I noticed. I hope the other posters will let this situation die so that the players and coaches can get back to normalacy asap. I am tired of reading the other posters bashing coaches and kids. My feeling is if you dont support someone don't talk about them. The above mentioned posters have pretty much taken shots at Wellston and other TVC schools on a regular basis. I for one would like to wish all the coaches at Wellston and the other TVC schools a safe summer, and a great next season. I need to say this, but I really missed watching Derrow coach last season. The TVC just wasn't the same without him stalking the sidelines. It also looked very different without him on the Wellston bench, it just wasn't as exciting to watch. I have spoken about this before, but it was taken off - He also was very nice to my son when he spoke at the OU summer camp during the early nineties. He had lots of class and treated every camper with respect. He stayed after his speech and showed alot of individual attention to the kids that stayed afterwards. I for one am a Derrow fan."Now I feel better".

Are you kidding me? Hold on, while I pick myself up off the floor and wipe the tears of laughter from my old blood shot eyes. Those assistant coaches did a huge favor for the kids of Wellston and the Wellston school system last year. When those kids lost their head coach after one game into the season, (because of his own stupidity) it would have been easy for everyone else to walk away. But the kids, the "young" coaches worked their @$$es off and as a basketball fan, and a bigger Ironmen fan, I was never more proud of Wellston and how they handled the situation. It would be a complete disservice to the hard work and what they endured last season for those kids and those "young" coaches only to begin back at the beginning. I have never liked Derrow, I always thought he was arrogant, unscrupulous, and a bully. For Wellston to bring him back, Oh My God, Wellston will deserve everything they get. Oh, fan of Derrow you are right about one thing, the TVC wasn't the same, it was WAY, WAY BETTER.

The topic is called Summer Leagues? — boys and girls — Summer Leagues?

Ya just might want to steer this thread back on course before it faces another death by removal, which so many topics in which Wellston boys basketball is brought up in do.

Just tying to be a team player here. That's all. Thank you. Have a nice day.
