Chillicothe @ Ironton 12/18
Well game 3 for the Cavs, they are coming in with a 1-1 record. They also are coming off a loss to the LE Braves. Can the Cavs bounce back Friday? I like the Cavs to open league play with a close win,in a good close game....Go Cavs!!!
Re: Chillicothe @ Ironton 12/18
Wow no replies....isn't this an important game for either team? I know it is for the Cavs to get back on track and start SEOAL with a road win. Hope snow holds off until I get back to Chilly though....go Cavs!!

Ironton needs a win to even out their record and this would be a big one. If they play like they did agaist Chesapeake I like their chances.
This is a tripple header matchup with Irontons Freshmen playing their first game of the season. Should be interesting to see how they fare with one Freshmen playing on the Varsity team and Deion Brown out with a knee injury from Football season. This should be another great season for the Freshmen, alot of talent on this team.

Depending on the status of the Portsmouth vs. Warren game, I might head to Ironton tonight.
Both teams are looking to get back on track after losses, and I expect a very competitive game.

Re: Chillicothe @ Ironton 12/18
Tigers come back from big 15 point decifit to defeat the Cavaliers in the opening SEOAL game. Repeat of last year, when the veteran Cavs went down to Ironton and could not close out the game. Cavs get outscored 14-7 (I believe) in the 4th and turn the ball over to much in the 2nd half. Young Cavs need to regroup and take the backend of this crazy scheduling by going to Marietta on Tuesday. The young kids need to keep their heads up and learn from the adversity. Bottom line is we have to get better each practice and go with who we have. Team is very shorthanded, but the kids need to make shots, get to the foul line, and learn not to go in ruts where we continually turn the ball over. In spurts we are a very solid team. However, we play Jekell and Hyde and we in fact "hide" from attaching the basket and getting it done. On a positive note, London has double digit blocks and I am sure rebounds tonight. Get him the ball and he has a triple double.
Kudos to Coach Lafon and the Tigers and they go 1 up on the Cavs in the league standing. I am looking forward to the rematch up in Chilly.
GO CAVS!!!

Great post hitchbone.....dr. jekell and mr. Hyde is what I seen....they had Ironton blewout in the first half and came out in the second half like they had it in the bag! Fellas you have to learn how to close games out!!! Ironton never stopped fighting...good job Tigers. When the Tigers come to Chillicothe hopefully the Cavs figure out how to close it out. The Cavs are a good team and it showed in spurts. The Cavs gave this game away. In my opinion the Tigers wil come to Chillicothe and the Cavs will blow them out the water! Keep your heads up! Go Cavs!!

How young are the cavaliers? The roster lists 4 seniors, Micheal Turner, Landon Beverly, Donte Thompson, and Tim Dunbar are listed. Didn't Turner start last year?

Turner started last year
Thompson is no longer on the team
Beverly is ineligible untill next quarter
I've never seen Tim Dunbar on the court in a varsity game this year or last.
Starters as of right now are
Turner-Senior(returning starter)
Manion-Junior(JV last year)
Ragland-Junior(mostly JV last year)
I. Beverly-Junior(JV last year)
London-Sophomore(Split time between JV and Varsity the second half f last season)
6th man is Freshman Zach Johnson
Landon Beverly played some Varsity last season and is ineligible
Brandon Beverly played some Varsity and is suspended currently(I don't know how long)
Shay Netter would be a big help as a senior this year providing some muscle inside but he chose not to play this year. Brook Netter is another that would have added depth and probably contributed to the JV and a little varsity. Donta Thompson is the one whom we are missing the most because he can handle the ball and not turn it over which seems to be a problem for Turner and Manion.
It's a shame that kids will stick with a program and do something to either mess up their oportunity or simply quit before their senior years. It really hurts the rest of the team. IMO IF everyone that should be playing was playing our lineup would be: Turner, Thompson, L. Beverly, Ragland, London starting with 6th man being B. Beverly, 7th man being I. Beverly, 8th man being Johnson, 9th man being Shay Netter, and 10th man being Manion. That would be one deep and talented team. As it is the Cavs have major problems with depth and ball handling as well as giving London help down low.
Hopefully this team can hold it together and B. Beverly and L. Beverly can get back on the court by the end of the season and London, Johnson, and Manion Develop their games a little more as well as Turner stepping up.
This team has A LOT to work on but the potential is there to be a very good team by February. This team could hold together, get the pieces in place and round into a tough out come tourney time or they could fall apart and it could be a very long season. IMO, it all starts with the guard play. Leadership will be a big factor in determining this team's future. IMO, Michael Turner needs to step up and become the leader AND carry the team untill they get everyone back. If he is unable to lead though, someone else must step up.
Let's go Cavs.
