Slone is only better than johnston when a helmet is involved, but football is over. Mark shoots the ball well when he gets a good look, but overall Johnston is a much better player, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Eaglenest I will admit that Minford has been in the weight room, the kids looked like they have bulked up for football. All the extra muscle did for them tonight was enable them to foul harder. What's up with Sloan and Oesh not starting? Seems like Minford was playing in a funk. They are more athletic than they played tonight.

Again, read my post. I never said "more" athletic but a team that may be equal in strength, quickness, jumping, etc.. Minford is very athletic, but I said Waverly would win as they are better "basketball" players. I will not rehash the definition of athlete.

Good win for the Tigers. If Oak HIll doesn't get in the way, the Tigers could be marching on to an SOC2 title.

Eaglesnest,
I have read and re-read your post several times. It is what it is. Waverly, as a team, was way "more" athletic when you said they weren't. It was very obvious to any observer that Waverly was the "more" athletic "team".
You are right about one thing, the Tigers could be on their way to the title, BUT there is allot of basketball to play. It's hard to win on the road and the Tigers have some key games coming up on the road.

The Tigers need to keep working hard to improve as a team and not have a letdown. If they do that everything will be fine.

Eaglenest I think you should reread your post. It is kind of hard to have amnesia when it is in print.

Waverly is the best team and the only complete team in the SOC II. They looked real good last night. Minford has a lot of real good athletes but no real basketball player and no spot up shooters. It's easy to see just by the look test why Minford is getting better in football. It is pretty obvious that the basketball players that play football have hit the weight room. Coach Shoemaker is doing a fine job. He lacks basketball talent. I thought at the beginning of the year if Minford was .500, Coach Shoemaker should be Coach of the year. Nothing last night changed my mind.

Soccerfix, I think you should read what you quote....it says WAVERLY IS NOT MORE athletic than Minford and I stand by that. In another post, I say that Waverly have fine athletes and that they are better basketball players.

Last post on this topic. I stand by the above statement and would welcome an athletic competition (run the 40, measure vertical jump, bench press, etc athletic evaluation) between these teams, but it will never happen so this is silly. Waverly is better at basketball. Minford is better at football. Waverly and Minford have comparable "athletes." Waverly will out-athlete everyone else in the SOC2 hands down.

Good luck to both squads the rest of the year.

I think the coach of the year was on the other sidelines last night, as Waverly is the favorite to win the league. I also think that Minford is lacking basketball talent and that Coach Shoemaker is doing fine, but there will be more losses this year. Hopefully the kids compete and continue to get better.

Again Eaglesnest, you SHOULD keep your thoughts to yourself. Maybe one day you will learn!

It was obvious to all involved including fans from the Eagles nest in beaver who the more athletic team was and what colors they were wearing......(HINT ORANGE AND BLACK)

Eaglesnest, Sammy is one of the best point guards in the area and the best Waverly has seen in many years. It is obvious that Devon is getting better every time he walks onto the floor, the young man is a very talented player and is only gonna get better just needs to get a little stronger. Kretzer, Martin and Robak they are what they are athletes, the whole team is full of talent from the coach down. I will say Waverly will go as far as they want, its all gonna be up to them as a team. Kevin Malone keep up on the defense, you sure have upset alot of very good offensive players and coaches this year. Good luck and great job Tigers, its gonna be a great year for basketball in Waverly!

as long as Sam plays big in big games it doesnt matter if he is as good as Ondera or Bendolph. Bottom line is just "WIN" baby!

Johnston ate up Bendolph he even had Barrick take him out of the game after 3 straight trips he took him to the hole then when he put him back in he didnt guard Johnston the rest of the night!! You can scratch him off the list.

I think Waverly has the best PG in in Sammy and Jake as the best player in the SOC

crazy midgets- i have to disagree with you- for the most part Sam took Bendolph to the hole was after he was injured. Sam is doing what the coaches are asking of him- putting bulletin board material on here about taking people off the list is not wise- Bendolph and Ondera are both great players who have proven themselves- Sam has only 7 games under his belt- my opinion is that he will continue to have a great year however, 7 games doesnt make a league champion or a soc player of the year or the best point guard yet.

Bendolph and Ondera will both play at the next level- and hopefully with continued improvement and good showing Sam will get the same looks. One thing I really like about Waverly is that Sam doesnt have to score a lot for the Tigers to win- but he can score if needed. I hope Sam doesnt get all caught up in who is the best point guard in the league because it doesnt matter.

As far as Kretzer goes... if all things stay the way they are going now... he is going to be hard to beat for a ton of honors- playing for the All Ohio Red has really helped him a lot and he has the chance to be a very sought after division I recruit, but to make him player of the year after seven games is to quick- i just dont like to brag when we arent even half way through the season.

Now after the season if we finish like we all want ---then we can be very proud of are players and what they have achieved.

Bendolph broke his foot during the football season and was questionable if he would play this year. You could tell he was limping as the game progressed. Healthy, the kid can play.
If he heals up, Wheelersburg could become the team everybody thought they would be.

Minford didn't look as good as i thought they might be, or nearly as good as this thread made them out to be. I'm still looking for the kid from Minford who can jump out of the gym. If anyone sees him let me know.

Yeah i agree.

Minford needs to control their crowd! The jv game was rediculous.
