Re: Ironton @ marietta 1/15
another tough SEOAL road game for Ironton. It is very tough to win on the road in this league. Marietta has a good home crowd and there wont be many from Ironton make the haul up there. I think Ironton will play hard as Fighting Tigers always do. ironton team is coming together nicely and they are playing really good defense as a team. Any win at Marietta is a big one. Ironton will be fortunate to get one up there. Ironton has won at jackson and at Gallia Academy. They have tough road league games remaioning at Warren, Logan, Portsmouth, Chillicothe and this firday at Marietta. My thinking is that you win your home games and split on the road. If Ironton can eeck out a win over Marietta this week, it would be huge to winning the league title. See ya'll friday night. Where can a guy get a good meal in marietta efore the game?

I'm leaving today to spend the weekend in Cincinnati celebrating my younger granddaughter's 10th birthday so I won't be able to listen to the game tomorrow night. GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS.

Marietta lost at Portsmouth 55-43, lost at home to Gallia Academy 40-37, and at home to Chillicothe 47-37. The Tigers like to play a slower pace game so it will be interesting to see how Ironton tries to speed up the play.

Ironton coming off a long 10 day layoff on the road with arch-rival game against Portsmouth looming next Tuesday. Could be a trap game if Coach Lafon's guys are not sharp or are looking ahead. We'll see.

Ironton 20 19 11 11 -- 61
Marietta 13 9 8 7 --37
Marietta didn't play nearly as well as they did in their home loss to Chillicothe. Ironton tactically beat the Marietta half court defense soundly for easy baskets in the first half, especially the 1st quarter, unlike any other game I've seen Marietta play this season. Marietta led 3-0 on a trey to start the game, then went behind 7-3, never to be very close again. They trailed 25-19 and then let it get away in the last half of the 2nd quarter when they had a foul for a turnover resulting in a one and bonus for Ironton and a technical for four free throws for Ironton, and Marietta missed all three front ends of the one and bonus during that period. Marietta scored on none of their 5 front ends in the game and were 4/16 at the line for the game. High scorers had 8 points for Marietta with Connor Hess having his 8 all in the first quarter, and Morgan Wynn having his 8 in the other 3 quarters. Waginger, Kochendoerfer, and Taylor pretty well split evenly a total of 45 of Ironton's points.

Ironton beat Warren in their first matchup this season 70-57.
Congrats Ironton on the win, next up Portsmouth 1/19 at the Conley Center.

Did Marietta's reserves remain unbeaten in the SEOAL or did Ironton knock the M-Tigers off last night? Still need a score. Thanks.

Great trip to Marietta last night. The Ironton JV's were down 20-6 in the first half and came storming back. The ironton JV's played much better when they started taking it to the two big junior inside guys. Very proud of the young Fighting Tigers last night.
The varsity Fighting Tigers just flat out took it to the tigers. The first 7 minutes was very telling as Ironton got Marietta into a running game and I think by mid 2nd quarter, Marietta was worn out. Great team basketball by Ironton. Not the best Ironton team, but very, very fun to watch if you like hard work, hustle and team basketball.
Great road win to go 5-0 in conference. I believe that is 7 straight wins now as well. We must stay focused on tuesday to beat a much improved Portsmouth team.
