Nelsonville-York Vs. Athens Triple header!!!23jan10

Post by Orange and Brown »

Nelsonville-York will be heading up Rt. 33 to the Plains to take on Athens in a triple header with the Freshman game scheduled to start at 5:00pm.

Can the Bucks climb the mountain and knock off the Bulldogs or will Athens D be to much for the Buckeyes to handle? :122245

Thoughts???????

First, isn't it down Rt. 33 to The Plains O & B? LOL Just kidding.

I think Athens D will be too much for the Buckeyes tonight. Athens is on a roll and haven't lost at home all season. The Bulldogs are definitely firing on all cylinders when Butch gets 30, Valentor gets 20 (&16 rebounds) and Pfaff adds 16 to the big win last night AT Belpre.

My money is on the Bulldogs all the way. (I think it will be a 3 sweep)

Athens by 10.

Go Dawgs!

Final score.

Athens 58
Nelsonville-York 41

Very much a one-sided game. Athens came to play tonight.

Bulldogs win by 17. Controlled the entire game. It was a great game for a lot of players to play. Great job Bulldogs. Keep this train a rollin'! Next up, at Wellston Tuesday. Stay focused and poised. One game at a time.

I agree, very much a one sided affair. Buckeyes kept it close for awhile. Great job Bulldogs. Both teams looked tired, lots of games for both teams lately. Dogs 6-0 after the first trip thru the TVC, lots of close games, keep getting better gentlemen.
Nice Athens crowd. JV Dogs win big, Frosh lose to Buckeyes. JV and Varsity both 12-1 overall.

Athens was a superior team. Both teams have good athletes. Coach Skinner, though is a much better coach. His kids moved the ball well and played in control. The Buckeyes played mostly out of control and seemed one player tried to carry the team. I have seen both squads several times over the years and these kids can all play well. The Buckeyes just can't play well as a team. The Bulldogs looks to have a great finish to the season. I wish the Buckeyes well and if there coach can gain control of his team and find the right balance with his kids, they will win a few more games.

Athens (12-1), (6-0 TVC-Ohio)
NY (6-5), (3-3 TVC-Ohio)

Saturday's game was just a case of one team being older, more experienced and Athens may have a little more talent (in terms of just pure basketball athletic skills) ... Cori Butcher is flat out awesome, he has blown me away this year - I had no clue the kid would be this good ... I didn't get to see a lot of him last year - I believe he sat out a bunch of game because of injury - but no way, shape or form was he as good as he is this season ... Ive seen ALL THE TVC-OHIO teams, some of them two or three times, and as of right now Butcher sould be handed the TVC-Ohio P.O.Y award ... He dropped in 30 points versus Belpre Friday, which may have caused him to be a little fatigued versus NY Saturday (12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) ... Against Vinton County early in the year he was 8-of-12 from the field, 4-for-4 from the line to lead all scorers with 20 points (in a game that ended up 53-50) ... A case could be made for Frank Valentour or even Collin Pfaff, because both are equally as important to the Bulldogs success (but performance wise, Butcher would have my vote for P.O.Y) .... I know one thing, the more we get into the season - The better Athens has looked ... They may lose a league game somewhere down the line, but with all the "big" match-ups on the road already in the books - its gonna be tough to knock 'em off - especially inside McAfee Gymnasium.
