I just think Seaman's defense abilities, thrown in with his offense, puts him at the top of the pack.

All good points but I do think Blake has improved his defense and rebounding from last season.

Agree, Tribe, Justice is playing better defense, and when/if he does this consistently, he is a Man! Granted, he is a great player, but I agree with "cheer", Andrew Seaman could be the best, for his CONSISTENT overall abilities, to come out of PHS, and that puts him above, and certainly among, a lot of great PHS players.....Chuck Johnson, Joe Ryan, Twin Justices, Sowards, Judd Johnson, Marc Kremin, Josh Arey, ......... (list goes on an on.....)

Agree with some of these names (Kremin, Johnson, Ryan,), but there are several Id add to this list. To name a few - Jerry Copley, George McCoy, Chris Reed (old), Whitey Daulton, Micheal Cheesbro, Luke Ogden, Brian Justice, Gravy - the one man press breaker, Smalley, Terry Myers, Jody Evans, Singer, Phillip . I am sure there are others I am missing.

Also, what Sowards...none stick out at all in my mind....a little help here.

justice is quite capable of being a good defensive player and rebounder and at the next level he will have to play good defense to survive. not many star high school players play defense as well as they can.

Was thinking Buddy Sowards. Trying to remember the better/best players. And some I listed have a definite order, as well. I did note that the list goes on and on. I do, however, the three you called out, Johnson, Ryan, Kremin, are probably the top three. I also agree with most of your additions to my list. A couple of them, just IMO, are questionable. ;-)

I would like to see PHS do a hall of fame. Would also like to see the criteria other conferences use for P.O.Y. and other schools' Hall of Fame criteria, to use as a model. Interesting..... Maybe PHS booster club/parents could come up with something like this. I think things like this help build pride and interest in the program, for students as well as fans.

Kelly Copeland was a pretty good player for the Indians back in the day. Played with the Justice twins which was a pretty good trio. Remember some good match ups between Kelly Copeland and Randy Rosselot of NA.

I forgot about Kelly, glad he was mentioned as he sure should have been.

Matt Christopher... which do you feel are questionable?

I must apologize for the digression. The thread is POY in SHL. I'm just a little biased to PHS. In terms of truly deserving P.O.Y from PHS, my pint was that Andrew Seaman would get my vote, and that he would be in the company of other SHL P.O.Y. potential candidates from PHS past, C. Johnson, J. Ryan, and M. Kremin. The digession toward the other great PHS players should be left to another thread. Apologies to Tribe, who was the author of this thread. But if you want to run another PHS hall of fame, I'd certainly add my two cents (for what that's worth!)

Don't know what's wrong with my quotes. Hope you can follow....

Sneaky1, just trouble with P.O.Y. for some of your list, and my original list. My bad for not following the author's thread for potential SHL P.O.Y. Not disputing any on your list as being standouts for PHS.

This years POY for me would be a toss-up between Justice and Seaman, both are outstanding. I do feel, however, that including Buddy in that list is a stretch. Buddy was decent but not a contender for player of the year or even what I would call an outstanding player. I would have to include many other players in that list. To name a few: Seth Smalley, Ronnie Branscome, all the Conleys, Greg Seaman, Jerry Leedy, Brade Wallace, Jeff Unger, Shane Ison, Bill Garret, all the Scotts, Randy Franklin, Richie Moore, Chris Reed jr., Chad Perdue, David Arey, Jim Johnson, Jeff Warfe, Randy Meade, Chris Miller, Chris Fuller, Steve Shoemaker, PD Seaman.etc. Have to quit (fingers hurt).

sneaky 1 ? Not much of a basketball guru or you obviously did not see some of these people play. And yes, I have seen them play and have watched and known Peebles basketball since 1970, as well as as playing for the Indians.

Agree Goldbond... Sneaky must have been sneaking around other places instead of ballgames.

I may have mislead you. My list was including players that I felt were comparable to Sowards. It was not intended as a list for player of the year or outstanding players. Those I previously addressed in an earlier post (scroll up to see). I follow indian basketball enough to know who the truly great ones are.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yep, and I watched it again about a week or two ago.

Sneaky1 is there a reason you intentionally removed Josh Arey from your list of greats? Not even an honorable mention in your list of, "memorable mediocres"???

You are kidding, right? This is a joke, right? Are you just starting to list everyone who ever played at PHS? I noted that I had digressed from the topic of P.O.Y. and that many I had mentioned were not POY contenders, perhaps more like. I left that to Johnson, Ryan, Kremin (in terms of PHS alumni). I had listed what I felt were but a few of the better/best players at PHS. I noted that the list could go on and on, if you remember. But I'm not sure I could agree with some you listed as being "better"....... Players, yes.

IMO, Arey has to be there, and certainly above the "memorable mediocres" list. POY, questionable, but memorable, definitely! I think my digression from the original thread of POY led to this discussion, and for this I apologize. I would like to see a good healthy debate about the good/better/best of PHS alumni, though.

Kelly Copeland should be in any debate, and Bob Huffman.
