Piketon Redstreaks Tourney Run?

Post by Redstreak93 »

How do all you "experts" think the Streaks will do this year? I believe they should do pretty well. I wish them well and I will be there rooting them on every step of the way. Good luck and thanks for giving this ole Redstreak something to cheer about in my later days...lol

With the offensive ability of Legg they can beat any d3 team Ive seen. But if he doesnt light it up they dont have much fire power. They have other nice players but if hes not putting up big numbers they are very beatable. JMO. Would be ones of the favorites with Southworth. Kid was a beast inside. Good Luck to the Streaks.

wow. sorry to hear that. Heard he was a good one. So as far as the starters without him...are they big enough to make a good run?

Ive only seen them a couple times. The Brush kid is long and athletic but not real strong. I think they would have trouble with a big team.

Well, you never know. Its still sad about the kid. If it happens to go the way I think it will go they will be facing Chesapeake in the Districts. Their starters are 6'7, 6'4, 6'2, 6'1 and about 5'9 or 5'10....and all pretty athletic. Should be a great game. Peake is young though so that might make a big difference. Again, good luck to you guys and hope all goes well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they should face Chesapeake in the first round of the districts. They've got some size and meat inside. A complete rostser would had been advantageous for Piketon.

Soccer, the only problem is South Point stands in the way. Peake has had two tough games with them and won both but beating a team 3 times is very tough I hear. I think Chesapeake is a better all around team but you never know. I'll be in Athens either way!

Sorry about counting the chickens before they hatched. I've seen both Peake and SP play and was really impressed with the Peake.

Piketon can still make a good run without Southworth. Transition game may be better without him, but post game not near as good, especially on defense. Bball is a game of matchups and really just depends on what kind of team they have to face. A big post oriented team with more than one post player would hurt the Streaks IMHO.

If they can make it that far without him...I believe Southworth will be eligible to come back after March 12. He has been practicing with the team. If they can get that far without him, maybe just maybe...Lookout...Maybe another strong tourney run...

Piketon is a dangerous team that is explosive and fast and The Chef is sure no one is anxious to matchup with them especially when they have all their players back. Things could get very interesting.

Here Comes the Streaks!!!

What's up with Southworth playing in the Y league? I thought there were issues with that as well? Just asking, someone please clarify.

If noone has a clue if he is going to be able to play. Then it obviously hasn't been taken care of

Sports101, take a chill pill. I said I was just asking, not trying to cause trouble! If that situation is cleared that's cool.

I hope he can play. I am tired of all the other excuses from the other threads about this player was hurt or this player couldnt play or if this or if that....geez. They are kids and I hope the best for all of them. Piketon will play the winner of SP and Chesapeake. I will be at that game and will update often as I can but wont be sitting there like some folks giving a play by play. Will post scores after each qtr if you guys are interested.

OVC Fan...You won't hear excuses here...Before that game, though, Piketon has to take care of West Union!....Piketon has a good team without him, and have performed very well in his absence since midseason...Yes, he (Southworth) is a great player, and he definitely adds talent to our team...We feel confident in his return at some point...HOWEVER, this TEAM is the PIKETON REDSTREAKS! This team doesn't make excuses...they play basketball and they play hard for 4 quarters. Piketon is quick, they have a lot of tourney experience, and they will not quit...They are relentless...They have 5-6 players with district, regional, and state semifinal game experience who are key to this years team (besides Southworth) blended with some nice, young talent.

Piketon lost 6 regular season games (all on road except one, 4 without Southworth) @Zane Trace, @ Zanesville, @ Huntington-Ross, @Waverly, @ Vinton County (OU-Chillicothe), and Columbus Mifflin-home...They also had road wins over Hillsboro and Eastern Pike (non-league). Piketon's first 4 losses were by a combined total of 10 points (Huntington, Zane Trace, Waverly, and Col. MIfflin).

Good Luck Streaks!!! Take care of the Dragons and move on!!! This TEAM is for real and we need everyone to believe!!! Call everyone in the village and get them out to support our team!

Just so you know i wasnt referring in any way to Piketon. Its all the other schools. Its gonna be a good tough game between SP and Chesapeake. May the best team show up. Good luck coach to you and your team and I hope the fans and the kids do their best to uphold the sincerity of the game. I know the Peake well and thier fans and you can bet they will show every bit of class as they know how. Great bunch of kids as i'm sure piketon has. Should be a dandy and congrats again.
