Whiteoak- Robbie Barnett
Ripley-?
Fayetteville- ?

Pretty solid list fanatic. I'll weigh in with the following:
Fairfield - Nathan Van Winkle '97
West Union - Blaine Roush '88 (Capital University)
Manchester - Billy Welch '72
Peebles - Marc Kremin '87
Lynchburg-Clay - Paul Cluxton '93 (Northern Kentucky University)
North Adams - Nathan Copas '96 (Rio Grande)
Eastern Brown - R.J. Beucler '02 (Taylor University)
Whiteoak - Robbie Barnett '07? (Southern State CC)
Ripley - Ben Washington '80
Fayetteville - Kurt Lanham '95
How about Jeff May who played for Blue Creek? Scored 50 points in a game, among other accomplishments.
Or Mark Daniels for West Union? Im a bit biased but he is West Union's all-time leading scorer, he was first team all-state, and he went on to play at Wooster College.

West Union's all-time leading scorer is Paul Kimble with a confirmed 1800+ varsity pts back in the late 50's.

That's what it said in the SHL all star game program last year.

1. Larry Hisle.......1965........first team All-American, recruited by John Wooden at UCLA, but instead chose to play major league baseball and had a fine career. Averaged 25.5 PPG his senior year.
2. Mike Haley.......1961........led the Trojans to 61 state title, was state tourney MVP, later had a fine career at Ohio University and was elected to OU's Hall of Fame. Coached 4 state title teams at Dayton Dunbar and Roth.
3. Jeff Lisath.......1978........led the Trojans to 78 state title, was state tourney MVP, later had a fine career at Miami of Ohio, and is currently head coach at Piketon. Averaged 21.2 PPG his senior year.
4. Craig Tubbs......1979........was a starter on 78 state title team, averaged 24.5 PPG his senior year, led Trojans to a #1 ranking with an 18-0 mark, all time leading scorer in PHS history with 1,485 points. Craig played with Jeff Lisath at Miami of Ohio.
5. Patrick Tubbs....1988........was the starting point guard on the 88 state title team, led the Trojans in scoring 3 straight years, went on to a fine career at Morehead State.

The list could go on and on, and currently we have a young man who is averaging 25 PPG.......Tory Horne........right now I would put him top 10 all time in PHS history......and there are some colleges showing interest in Tory.
I agree with Jeff Lisath and Craig Tubbs. I played against them both and they were great basketball players.

This 6'8 player was Doug Birchfield left handed knock down 15ft in ran the floor well. One of Irontons best

I agree Ty Barnes is prob the best ever BUT this happened after he graduated while in high school he be lucky to make top5. But he developed into maybe the best ever around the Tri state Never seen a player improve that much after high school

Mark Bayless- Started fros and soph at ohio state
anthony hitchens- leading scorer and state title
Chillicothe Top 5 or 10 would not be complete without the following added to the 3 above.

Also of one: Mark Bayless was AAA (Big Schools) Ohio Player of the Year. Recruited by all major Colleges in the Country.

Dr. Gordon Mickey - Class of 1958. Indiana University. Hitchens broke most of his scoring records, but a few still stand. We lost a great man and maybe the greatest Cavalier Hoopster ever, A's Dr Mickey passed away up in Michigan in the past year or so.

Joe Glassco - Class of 1979. Capital University. Star athlete who was also inducted into Capitals Athletic Hall of Fame. Known for his great point guard play, top of the key jumper and smooth all around play, Glassco led the 79 Cavs to a District Championship. Also, known for classic Battles with Trojampn great Craig Tubbs who I believe is his cousin.

Grain Veris - Class of 1981. Stanford University Football - All American, NFL player in the 80's. Veris was probaly the best rebounder in Cavalier history. 1st Team All Ohio in AAA (D1 today). Averaged right at 20 rebounds per game senior year and around 15 per game for career.

There are others and those that stick in my mind from recent history would be:

Steve Bayless - Class of 1987 - D1 signee with Bradley University

Ray Chambers - Class of 2008 - currently playing D1 at Troy University. Top 10 all time Cavs in rebounding and Field Goal%. 2nd Team All Ohio and part of 2008 State Championship

Jalen Ragland - Class of 2011 - currently playing D1 at University of Texas El Paso. Quietly had one of the greatest Senior campaigns in Cavalier history while leading team to District Championship. 1st Team All-Ohio and played in Ohio/Kentucky All-Star Classic. Cousin to cavalier great Mark Bayless.

GO CAVS!

This is an email from the guy who is trying to put together a complete record book for West Union basketball but is having a lot of trouble because of lost/missing scorebooks. He has almost everything back to 66-67.

Scoring List

Paul Kimble 1800+ missing some freshman and sophomore games he did play varsity all 4 years
Mark Daniels 1213+ not sure what is missing due to bad weather not sure how many they played
Bob Shivner 1211
Jordan Cox 957
Bobby Hayslip 923
Blaine Roush 908
John Hobbs 896
Eric Courtright 887

This is the all time scoring list. I will say this though. John Lafferty I am missing most of his sophomore and junior year but what i've found he's well over 800 points and from the amount of games i'm missing I figure he is over 1000 varsity.

Tom Potts is another one 3 years all varsity I figured by his averages and games played from what I have he will be over 1000 also.

I have most of the 1946-1947 season the year West Union was 26-1 and there was a year after that I believe 1949-1950 where they were 20-10 and a player named Dave Harris who coached Paul Kimble. played on those teams and averaged over 28 a game his senior year and from what I'm told but can't prove much beyond his freshman and senior year they said estimates were 1600 but I need to prove it first.

Single game record is 53 points by Bill Lafferty in a 110-57 victory over Jefferson. Mark Daniels had 50 against Manchester. There are a few players with 40 or more points in a game such as yourself.

Single season I know from what I have you are currently 3rd. Bob Shivner had 624 his senior year. Paul Kimble had 618 his senior year but i'm missing one game against Peebles so i figure he has the record for now. Then you are 3rd at 584.

El StreetBrawler,
Us and the Delfuego's would like to say that Combs hasn't been clutch ever since Blevins has jumped the borders, aye?
And how could we leave out Tanner Huntley? That amigo can shoot better than anyone in the great classic, "Tombstone." Do us all a favor, senor....And get off this website. Doesn't the JV of Manchester have practice after escuela? <(school) You should know, your probably in Spanish I as we speak ;)

Waverly
The best I have seen
my top would be Phil Miller 70's all state went to OU could score and if assists were kept would be the school leader imo
then John Shoemaker all state went to miami oh. drafted by the bulls and dodgers chose baseball
Mike Oyer all state went to E. kentucky
Denny Thompson all state OU
Bobby Thompson all state Ohio State
and have to throw in Jake kretzer now
Rick Eblin all state marrietta
Funny story about Eblin I went for a job interview when I was in college the owner of the company was huge around 6'11" and he asked me in my interview where i was from i said waverly and he looked at me and said politely i cant hire you and I said ok why and he said i played for upper arlington and we played waverly in the regional finals, waverly beat us in overtime and the next day where i had taken so many elbows from Eblin I couldnt lift my arms I havent forgot it and im not hiring anyone from waverly. he went on to play at kansas true story.

Jeremey McCloud is the Pike County scoring champ with at least 1802pts. The old record was held by Mark Cochenour of Eastern with 1801, with no 3pt line. So i'm sure that Mark would still have the record if he played with the 3 pt line cause he could and would shoot it from anywhere. McCloud was a great player, he broke the record in a game at Eastern which the Eagles won to share the league title with Western

Great to see Larry Hisle and Al Oliver at the Portsmouth game last night..........Al regularly attends the home games (his grandson Sky Oliver starts on the JV team), while Larry was in town visiting..........Larry is still considered by many Trojan fans as the greatest basketball player in PHS history..........he averaged 25.5 PPG his senior year of 1965 and made 1st team All-American with Lew Alcindor.........Larry was offered scholarships by Ohio State and UCLA's John Wooden..........Al was also a very good basketball player who had the opportunity to play D1 basketball........but both Larry and Al chose major league baseball and had fine careers..........Al had over 2,700 hits, batted .303 for his career, won a batting title (.332) with the Montreal Expos.........I feel Al deserves to be in the Hall of Fame considering his numbers are better than some of those that are already in there.

He is one of the best clutch 3 point shooters the league has ever seen..made back to back 3's to send regional championship game into overtime with the first 3 not bein counted cause of coach callin timeout..year b4 in districts made wat would of been winning layup if coach hadn't called timeout..huntley can not be considered one of the best 3 point shooters in the league..yes he can shoot from 3 point land but not in top 5 in the league...top 5 in no specific order:combs, lawson, mitchell, justice, and fifth could be between west, arey, carraher and huntley maybe

Trojandave,

I agree with you 100% on Al deserving to be in the HOF. I was just talking to him about that over the Holidays. He is to humble to say it, but Cooperstown is not complete without A.O. Being in there.
