Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Shame on those coaches if that is true, individual rewards means alot to these young men.I also would say Ondera P.O.Y.Question why would Justice and Ondera not be considered in the same district, and where is the district line at.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Not sure where the line is, just know that they are not same district in voting. Peebles went to Waverly and Oak Hill went like to Jackson or Athens.

Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Tim Kochendoerfer from Ironton is the player of the year on my opinion. Timmy is the leader of the #2 team in the region, plays well at both ends of the court. Tim is a better leader and teammate than player and as stats and record show he is a heck of a player.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
I'd have to agree, Tim Kochendoerfer, Ironton deserves it.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
The Coaches Assocation is broken up differently. There are 14 districts in the State. Jackson, Athens, Vinton County schools, along with others belong to District 13; Scioto, Adams, and Pike County, along with others, belong to District 14.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
The Southeast district is divided into 2. District 14 includes Eastern Brown, all Adams, Highland, Pike, Scioto, Fayette, Ross and Pickaway County schools. District 13 includes all counties East in the Southeast District. Norm is the director of 13 and Doug Stiverson is the director of 14.

"Any stats for Ondera"
Nope....had to be around 20 ppg or more......most of his team's assists and probalby led the team or was very close in rebounding....and likely in steals.
IMO Kyle Ondera was the best player in SE D3...regardless of district number.....and not that it matters at all but in the tourney game in which they were defeated.....Ondera had 26 pts and 8 rb in about 30 minutes.

Ondera is tough. He doesnt seem to play like most players I have seen this year. He is very analytical and premeditated, maybe methodical is a better word to describe his game. A step ahead of most players in this area if not 2 steps.

I also heard that Peebles coaches did not get paperwork in on time. If that is true, then Justice will not be allowed to make an all state team because Peebles loses nominations. If a coach or school does not turn paperwork in on time, coach loses voting and nomination privledges for that year.
The paperwork issue is only an "issue" in the distric coaches poll. The real awards are given away by AP voting...and as stated early have not been released yet. The players will not be penalized in this, and are still eligible to recieve any and all rewards from the AP District and State Teams and POY...ect

This is a really sad attempt to try and put a negative light on the SE All-District 14 Team.
The "real" awards as you put it are given by the AP?? I think that an award that is voted on by the coaches is also something to be proud of. I am hopeful that we will see Justice and Seaman on this team, but if it's true the paperwork was not turned in on time and they did not receive the proper recognition then you have to put the blame where it belongs. Shame on you for trying to put a damper on this for players (boys and girls) that are fortunate enough to be a part of the All-District Team. Congratulations to anyone that makes this team.

Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Good post slug.....Get the paperwork in on time and this doesn't happen. It's really a shame to see 2 kids get put on a 2nd and 3rd team where they do not belong. Not saying 2nd and 3rd isn't an honor but both get placed on the 1st and 2nd (and maybe POY)if the stuff gets turned in on time.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
They would've probably both been voted onto the first team. Their stats are strong. And you are right either one would've had a chance at POY--but there were a lot of good individual players in the district this year. But according to several sources on here the paperwork wasn't in, so it's unfortunate, but it's also the rules. Too bad for the kids.
And any post-season team is an honor to a high school kid. The down-playing is not cool.

I agree with all the above. It looks like you might be over ruled. peeblessportsfan1391

I was hoping that what I was hearing was rumors but evidently not. Gotta agree with peeblessportsfan. Don't give me the crap about they didn't get their paperwork in on time...any coach, in my opinion, that would hold that against kids isn't much of a person.

Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
What exactly is the rule....must not be much of a rule if they were allowed to be chosen for something? They were allowed to be nominated and voted for? I don't think anyone is trying to put the district team awards in a negative light but it is what it is. I don't think it's any secret that there is a lot of politicing going on. The real question of honor here is would a coach not vote for a kid who is obviously worthy of a higher selection just because paperwork didn't arrive on time. That's a lousy excuse.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Sounds to me like you cannot even nominate a player if you haven't turned in your paperwork. I agree probably some politcing going on but isn't there in everything? It goes on in tournament draw, SOC, SHL teams etc...It's to bad but it's also too bad that coaches or A.D. or whoever can't turn in the proper papers so you can participate in the selection. Rules are rules.
Would it have been better if they wouldn't have let them be nominated? I don't know but it's something to think about.

I agree, it seems if the coaches weren't going to vote/place these players in spots that their play warranted they would've been better off not allowing these last minute nominations. Again it's too bad the paper work couldn't have been in on time and all this could have been avoided. I just feel bad for the these two quality players.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Looks like Peebles did better that they thought..According to the other Coaches SE All-District thread on here they even got a last year player honorable mention.
Re: Release date of SE All-District teams?
Not saying that I am a fan of the rule, however there has to be something in Place to make sure schools get there paperwork and district dues in in a timely manner. If not, schools would drag their feet every year. What is sad is that the coaches voted to make an exception to the rule this year and that isnt fair to the teams left out in the past. No it isnt fair to the players, the coaches and schools need to be responsible. And I still heard that the state wont recognize them either, because they are technically not a member of the state without their dues being in on time. The AP is different, I think it is newspapers and media vote. So I guess they just wont be recognized by the state athletic association's all state teams.

Many of the players who were named to the Coach's All Distric Teams have had some amazing seasons, and I would like to congratulate each and everyone of them. However, if there were no polotics or BS involved in the process of this selection, I would agree with you all on the validity of these Awards. However, Coaches try to wheel and deal, and get their players these awards in order to get other votes for things such as a better seed selection in the tournament. The AP can strictly look at the players with a little less bias (not to say that there isn't some bias still involved, but there is much less) and make in my opinion a more true All Distric Team... no Politics involved....Purely Stats and the Player's over-all Performance on the year.
