What does Waverly have coming back other than Kretzer and Martin (and that is alot)? Did they have anyone from the JV that can fill the point guard spot?

Devin Kelly will most likely run the point. He mainly shared time with Remy last season at the off guard position. He also played a little point guard whenever Sammy wasn't in the game.

Reading & watching the various comments for the last few weeks about Waverly for 2010-2011, you wonder where some of these rumours & comments really come from. If you go back to the 1940's till now Waverly has been one of the powerhouse teams. Top of the pops at diffrent times & at the bottom at other times.
Coach Robinson has a great base to build from & has had some luck with international students over the last 2 years, "BUT" the man has good staff around him & the kids respect him. The Waverly team is rebuilding & part of this process is to get the little kids involved early & this is happening.
Watch this space in the next 2-5 years, when these kids start playing, all the rubbish about who will transfer in, "REALLY"
As it has been posted (smurray) those that want it badly enough will do the work & Waverly will be a force to recon with "Go Da Tigers"

Sorry, but I have never thought of Waverly as a powerhouse basketball school? Sure, they have had some good years as most schools have. But Powerhouse? Are they the biggest school in the SOC? How many SOC titles, sectional titles, District titles have they won?

As good as Martin is, Waverly would have really struggled last season without the exchange point guard and Kretzer that transferred in.

That being said, with Kretzer and Martin (arguably the 2 best players in the SOC2), expectations in Waverly should be very high next season. Good luck, except in the Holiday Classic ;-)

Why is it you only say good things about your own team?

Rad Chad,

In no way was I saying "bad thing" about Waverly? I ate plenty of crow last season as the Tigers beat Chilli and played Oak Hill very tough in one of their meetings. All I said was I wouldn't use the term "powerhouse" if I was you. You have never seen me on here saying that Eastern is a powerhouse? I would say that Eastern probably has better basketball tradition and past success than Waverly (although I am unsure of your teams long term success (Conference titles and tourney titles?)

I am more realistic about the teams that I follow than many. Waverly will be a very talented team and hard to beat next season if someone fills the void at the point. IMHO, they will be the favorites to win an SOC2 title!

Best of luck to the Tigers....except in the Classic against Eastern.

Waverly will once again have a horrible schedule in early going next year- they start off with 5 real tough games all on the road; At Court House, At Valley, At convo against Logan Elm, At Chillicothe, At Wheelersburg. They don't even get to play a home game until the holiday classic. I know a tough schedule is good but this is a real tough way to start the year- they will also play in the Wellston National Hoops Classic in January- The reason for the concern- you better not stumble coming out of the blocks because if you do it will be tough to recover! Any football or soccer injuries and things could be rough early.

WOW, what a schedule!
I heard the first few games were going to be on the road but that is tough. Martin is very close to 1,000 and it's a shame it won't happen at home.
Who do Da Tigers! play at the Wellston Classic?

During Coach Hawhees career at Waverly, yes you could say it was a powerhouse in high school basketball why he was voted to the Naismith National basketball coaches hall of fame, the Paul Walker award and Ap coach of the yr award. winning multiple seaol titles during the 70's ranked number 1 in the state at various times during that period also.

DA TIGERS, from Waverly! Coach Robertson and company will have the talent to go as far as the boys want to again next year. Kretzer, Martin, Kelly will be team leaders with some help from others. Im glad to see the biddy ball camps again this year, the talent at that level is tough with some very skilled kids. Thanks to Coach Robertson and his staff for making the future Tiger Sharks good players, and students.

Tigers start playing summer games on Mondays in June- lets hope they work hard and they find the missing two players to fill in with Kelly, Kretzer, and Martin. Two youngsters need to step up!!!!!

Go practice pitching softballs. you need more practice, rather than trying to be a English teacher.

Waverly will struggle with scoring points if Martin or Kretzer is having an off night. Those 2 are really the only scorers on the team. The loss of Sammy J. will hurt a lot more than some people think. Not taking anything from Martin, Kretzer, or Roback, but Sammy one of the biggest reasons for Waverly's success.
