Re: shl 10-11
Eastern Brown and Ripley should be fighting it out for the big division. Peebles, Manchester, and Fairfield should be a fairly close race in the small.
Re: shl 10-11
im going to have to go with peebles being on top of the shl again this year followed by manchester and fairfield from the small divison and then i look for eastern and ripley to really be teams to watch out for this year even though they both lost some key players.
Re: shl 10-11
I didn't realize West Union had a new coach. Any other changes in the SHL, apart from Peebles?

Re: shl 10-11
Nick Rymer is the new Varsity Boys Basketball coach at West Union and Danny Welch will be the JV coach....Good luck this season Dragons!!
Re: shl 10-11
who is rymer and where did he come from? in the last 20 years which coach has lasted the longest?
Re: shl 10-11
peebles lost alot from last years squad, its hard to replace the three seniors they lost.so i look for fairfield and manchester to fight it out for the small school division.ripley and eastern in the big.

Re: shl 10-11
The Indians have looked really good over the summer with Portsmouth being the only team to give them a lot of trouble. I think this year's squad will be even deeper than last seasons... with us probably going 9 or 10 deep as compared to last season's 7. Everyone has really stepped their games up from last season.squiggy wrote:peebles lost alot from last years squad, its hard to replace the three seniors they lost.so i look for fairfield and manchester to fight it out for the small school division.ripley and eastern in the big.

Re: shl 10-11
Peebles has a lot of talent coming up, and a lot of returning players who can score that weren't asked to last year. I look for a lot of underclassmen to step up, and they'll still be the team to beat in the small school.squiggy wrote:peebles lost alot from last years squad, its hard to replace the three seniors they lost.so i look for fairfield and manchester to fight it out for the small school division.ripley and eastern in the big.

Re: shl 10-11
I can already tell the Peebles/Manchester game is gonna be heated again this year.greyhound#1 wrote:manchester will be top of the whole league..they will have the best starting five in the league including the best player in the league in blake blevins with guards smith, ricketts, and forward combs along with a talented bench and smart coaches who will have em ready and prepared..and as for blevins he is the best player in the league and one of the best in the division
My predictions
Big Division:
1.Ripley-only lost three players from a pretty tough squad
2.Eastern Brown-Only has one starter coming back but they havent looked bad over the summer and will compete in the league
3.Wide open...Lynchburg Clay or North Adams?
5.West Union-Slump will probably continue as they lose some decent seniors from an already last in the league team
Small Division:
1.Peebles-Lost a couple key seniors but still, in my opinion, have the strongest roster in the SHL. A very strong junior class coupled with the depth provided by some underclassmen who have shown significant improvement from last year makes this years Indian squad look pretty solid when its all said and done.
2.Manchester-Lost critical role players in Dawson Little and Dylan Hanson.Returning Blevins,Combs, and Ricketts. In my opinion a close second to Peebles as far as total strength of roster is concerned. The teams' two meetings could decide who walks away with the league championship.
3.Fairfield-Return one of the top 3 players in the league in Chris Cox
4.Whiteoak-Lose Ben Barnett and Ethan Hawkins.Return Joe Michael and some strong underclassmen gaurds.
5.Fayetteville-Lose Tyler Gambrel and a couple other solid seniors.

The small division is loaded with talent this season. It was extremely hard to narrow down a list but here it is.....rogue47 wrote:How would you rank the players in both divisions
IMO
1.Blake Justice-Peebles-98th in the nation for SGs(ESPN), All State team all three seasons, Peebles's all time leading scorer(1584pts)
2.Blake Blevins-Manchester-Reigning D4 District player of the year,1st team all-state last season
3.Chris Cox-Fairfield-3rd team all-state last season(D4)
4.Jordan Payne-Eastern Brown
5.Andy Countryman-Peebles
6.Joe Michael-Whiteoak
7.Demarco Washington-Ripley
8.Drew Dollich-North Adams
9.Travis Combs-Manchester
10.Chase Lawson-Eastern Brown
11.Dylan Ricketts-Manchester
12.Ravye Williams-Ripley
....Granted I have little to no knowledge of Fayetteville and Lynchburg-Clay's rosters.
PG:
1.Andy Countryman-6'1"-Sr-Peebles
