lol WOW...the two seven footers are brothers. Not very mobile but I guess you dont have to be at 7'4". Some teams around here dont have centers as tall as their point gaurd. I will deffinatley be in attendance for this one.

6'8 is the 4th tallest starter....lol I don't think Jackson has ever even had a 6'8 starter. Shayne Compston? Ed Spriggs? Not sure they were 6'8.

7'2 and 7'4......lol

lol I think our 2 tallest in school history were both 6'7"...they played on the same team which ironically was one of our best....who says height dosent matter....

I think Peebles did extremely well with the height they had last season. 5'9",6'0",6'1",6'2",5'10"....with 5'9" and 6'0" being our next 2 off the bench

I have been to the OHSAA state tournament 21 of the last 22 years, about 25 times total, and have seen a good number of teams win state championships with a roster of 6-2 and under players.......but I have never seen a team win a state title with mediocre guards........decades ago, basketball was dominated by big men, but today's basketball at all levels is dominated by guard play........of course it's nice to have tall players with skills, but it seems like there are fewer really skilled big men (6-10 and over) than there used to be, whereas there is an abundance of good guards.......I know that most of the great teams at Portsmouth featured outstanding guard play, but quite often those teams didn't have dominant play in the post.

Looks like a nice lineup of games at Wellston......I went last year and will try to make it again for this year's version.

I also enjoyed last year's tourny. Gaurd play is important for anyone looking to contend past the sectional level but only a small sampling of schools from this area have really made it to a very high level without a solid amount of height on their squad.

Last season's highest representing teams from each division:

D2- Logan Elm(6'8" Logan Hauserman), Warren(Not huge, but had a fair amount of players at around the 6'3"-6'4" range)

D3-Chesapeake(6'6" Austin McMaster, 6'7" Colin Kennedy), Ironton(Had a ton of players in the 6'4" range)

D4-Manchester(Anchored by 6'7" Blake Blevins)

Just found out that Portsmouth will play Waverly at Wellston on Jan.9th at 3:30.......the game replaces the Northwest game on the Trojans' schedule.......good matchup in the post, with Jake Kretzer and Harrison Martin for Waverly pitted against Tre Underwood and Dion McKinley for Portsmouth.

FYI: Chillicothe was State Champs in 2008.....sounds like its gonna be a great weekend of basketball! Chillicothe will feature 2 6'5's and one 6'8 in the front court....

bmv, not that it matters but i know a college measured jalen and he is 6 foot 6 and 1/4 and jalen said the other kid was just a little bit taller than him. I wonder if malik grew any this summer, not sure. Height shouldn't be a problem with this cavs team for sure.

No offens but... half an inch taller than 6'4 1/4 is about 6'5''. I will certainlt take a front court of 6'8'', 6'5'', 6'4'' though lol.

dat, jalen is officially 6 ft 6 ,1/2 inch so if Miloje is 1/2 inch taller he would be 6 foot 7. Now I'm lol.....
