Marietta, Meigs at Gallipolis Dec. 17-18
Marietta, Meigs at Gallipolis Dec. 17-18
Thoughts.
Tigers invade GAHS for a SEOAL tripleheader Friday with the freshman game set to start at 5 p.m. Tigers 2-0, with wins over Cambridge and New Philadelphia.
Marauders are 3-2 after an 0-2 start (losing to Eastern and Warren Local) with back-to-back wins over Wellston, River Valley and Alexander. The win over Wellston snapped Meigs two-year, 21-game losing streak. It will also be a tripleheader Saturday.
Gallipolis, 2-2 on the year, lost non-league games to Rock Hill and Chesapeake, then beat River Valley and Athens.

When SEOAL play begins, I'd like for SEOAL posters to list their JV or reserve scores so I can keep standings for both varsity and JV teams this winter. Thanks. That's league games only.

Marietta i don't know about?
Meigs and Gallipolis could be a good one Meigs does posess size but they are not really strong at the guard position and are hurt by transition.
Blue Devils around 10

Blue Devils defense will need to keep Marietta in check by preventing the ball to get inside under the basket. Marietta has big man inside and lacks real good shooting from the outside- if gahs is able to do this and of course get produvtive scoring then the Devils will win!
I have not heard much on Meigs, but from the previous post-- the same strategy may work there--- Devils must stay out of foul trouble in both games unless bench play becomes more productive .
With the homecourt--and especially if g-force shows up---I'll take Gallia in both games...

Correction...Meigs is 3-2 :-) They beat Alexander on Tuesday night 70-63. Meigs does have size and their big guys can move. Jesse Smith has been on fire the last three games with double-doubles in all three contests and tons of assists. Very unselfish player. Seth Wells is doing great on defense, Cameron Bolin is always a threat and Colton Stewart is dangerous as well. The sophomore point guard, Boyer, is adjusting very well to the Varsity level and is playing smart ball. I would not underestimate this team at all. Everyone laughed off this team coming into the season but the Marauders are showing their level of determination and their efforts are finally being realized with checks in the "W" column. It takes tons of determination to stay committed to a program that had the record Meigs' did but these kids didn't give up and they worked their butts off during the off season and they are seeing the results of those efforts. Good luck, Meigs.

Marietta shoots better than you think outside. Cody Kriechbaum and Wes Riley are two great deep threats on the roster.

Give me Marietta by 5 in this one. Great guard play with Wynn, Grosel, Riley, and Lenington. Plus a few big forces in the paint.
