Clay 67 - St Joe 64 at Ironton Classic.

Clay 8 17 21 21 67
S.J. 7 18 24 15 64

The best game as far as even competetion in the Ironton Classic. Game went back and forth. From looking at the stat sheets Clay should have won this game easiliy. They shot 28 - 42 overal for 67%, 23- 34 from 2 for 68%, 5 - 8 from the 3 (63%) and 8 - 13 from the foul line for 62%. The led St Joe in every catergory on offense, but committed 16 turnovers to St Joes 9, many at the end of the game.
Great team effort for Clay in the win. Every player shot over .500 with Josh Porter leading the way at 6 - 7 and 8 rebounds and 14 points. He won the game MVP award. Burchett was right up there with a 5 - 7 night, including 3 - 4 threes and 8 rebounds and 16 points. Valentine hit 6 - 8, had 5 assists and finished with 13 points. Bussler and Delotell combined for 7 of 12 and 8 points each. That's the type of senior play this team need heading into SOC play.

Clay should have won easily??? so Even with the Hot hand shooting the ball the game was up for grabs till the final buzzer. Guess the Flyer defense had nothing to do with the turnovers? Porter won the MVP for clay. There was also an MVP named for the Flyers, as there was an MVP named for each team in every game.It was a very good game that could have gone either way. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.

I think your looking for something that isn't there PT. When a team shoots that high of a percentage, almost unheard of in High School ball to shoot 67% overall, and score 67 points, they usually win big. Not the case in this game, DUE TO THE TO's CAUSED BY THE DEFENSE. I know there was an MVP for both teams, I follow Clay, so if you feel slighted, tell us who won the MVP for St Joe. I'll give you a hint, he scored 24 points (not 22 as stated in the paper). Another hint, it wasn't Payton Blair, he scored 20 (not 22 as stated in the paper).

Not slighted at all RR just sounded as though you thought that clay just threw the ball around and let the Flyers hang around. Felt our defense played very well. the Porter kid is a nice player inside and deserved his award. Again, good luck the rest of the way.

And good luck to St Joe, was fun to play them in basketball after all the soccer matches. BTW, they shot over .500 for the night, so I would dare to bet that no other two teams shot that percentage in the two days of games.

FLYERS ARE GOOD LITTLE BALL CLUB. THEY HAVE LOST SEVERAL CLOSE THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE OR COULD HAVE WON .FOR THE FLYERS TO HANG IN THE GAME WITH THEIR POOR SHOOTING AND NO SUBS IS A CREDIT TO THEM.
