Called Coach Rhea and talked to him this afternoon........he told me that Pace was a very good team.......they started a 5-10 guard and everybody else was 6-4 and over.......he will be on later with scoring details.

He told me that Los Alamitos is going to be a very tough opponent........the Trojans and coaching staff did not get a chance to see them play because they were at a different court........even with the early start tomorrow, our kids should be ready with a good win today.

GO TROJANS!!!

Just finished breaking down film, here are some stats:
Wayne Evans: 24 pts. 3 rebounds, 6 assist, 2 steals
Dion McKinley: 18 pts. 9 rebounds
Len Collins: 6 - two big threes, first basket and three of tourney.
Zaide whitley: 3
Tre Underwood: 4 pts. 10 rebounds

Mason Jordan and LJ Adams played some valuable minutes.
We had great fan support with Coach Collins wife and two all time great Trojan basketball alumni in the stands. Graig Tubbs with his family and Kyle Taylor both drove a good distance to support the Trojans. After the game the team took a picture with Kyle and Craig. They both look like they could put on the uniform and lace up the shoes. I showed Craig the 78 State Championship picture someone posted earlier that said "play like champions." We will be up for a couple hours because we have a 6:00 a.m. wake up call. If anybody has any questions I will stay loggedd on for the next hour or so. Thanks for all your support. The team is very focused.
One highlight we saw in the second half today is learning to play with the lead, which is something that has been an issue in two games this year. Hope everyone is doing well.

Great job Trojans!! Thanks for the update Coach Rhea and keep us posted tomorrow as well. Absolutely loved the 78 state champs pic Tobias. Brings back a lot of good memories. I wouldn't trade the late 70's and 80's of watching Trojan hoops for anything. Truly an awesome time in my life personally. I'm proud of Coach Collins, a former Trojan hoopster for what he is doing with today's version of the Trojans. I want nothing more than the current student body and community to have just a glimpse of what I was so fortunate enough to get to experience. It has been WAY too long since the Trojans have been to the Convo. The Convo used to only be a brief pit stop to the final destination in Columbus. I think it is AWESOME that Craig and Kyle drove to support their beloved Trojans. I guess ONCE A TROJAN ALWAYS A TROJAN!! Can't help but wonder if Jeff Lisath ever second guesses his decision to turn down the PHS job after seeing him in that 78 pic? I always thought that being the Head Coach at his alma mater was something that he would have given anything for? Nevertheless, I am grateful that PHS has a former alum that knows the history and tradition of Trojan basketball at the helm.

Coach Collind and I got up at 5:30 a.m. for a pre-game jog. We got in a couple of miles then returned to wake the team for a 6:00 a.m. breakfast. Players went to cafe foe breakfast and returned to their rooms to get dressed for the game. We are boarding the bus at 7:45 to take the short trip to the HP Center or "milkhouse" as it's sometimes refered too. I will post again after our 8:45 game against Los Alamitos.

Lets Go Trojans beat Los Al!!

From some videos I saw last night on YouTube they have some players even though they lost 4 out of 5 starters. The Kameron kid can definitely play #24 I think. They also had a recent pick in the draft Landry Fields from Stanford and Los Al. He got drafted by the Knicks. Only other thing I saw was they looked to be in a 2-3 zone in some videos but they couldve just been up big and denying the post. If they play in a zone I could see Wayne having a huge game if he continues his hot streak and Dion get some good looks from the high post. Good Luck Trojans!! Play hard!

8:45 is definitely an early game. Even earlier for Los Al as hopefully they haven't caught up to East coast time.

On the schedule it now shows us playing at 12:30 vs Spanish River (FL)
Just got the text alert
Los Alamitos 55
Portsmouth 38

Still a great effort vs a HUGE school and probably the team to beat at the tourney. I was looking and they field a varsity, junior varsity, Frosh/Soph, and a freshman team. That's a LOT of kids.

Roster and info for Spanish River Sharks. Looks like they are led by their 6'6 Sophmore Center who had 16 and 12 last game they blogged about. But other than him they are mostly 5'10-6'1. I would venture and say they are probably a quick balanced team.

Very proud of the Trojans playing with the big schools. Let's bring home another W tomorrow! Go Trojans!

I agree trojan7.......I am very proud of Coach Collins, his staff, and our Trojans for playing such a challenging schedule in Florida........it would be nice to come home with a 2-1 record, and hopefully the kids will put together a good game vs. Spanish River.......even if they don't win, I think it has been a very good experience for our kids to play some top notch teams.

I think we will come home a better basketball team with the competition that we have played.

GO TROJANS!!!

Great effort by the Trojans this morning just coming up short in a lose to Los Alamitos 55-38. We were leading 19-18 after the first quarter, then shots stopped falling. Los Alamitos was a quality team that didn't make many mistakes and did't miss many shots. We must cut down turnovers and knock down open jumpers to beat another quality opponent tomorrow, Spainish River.Dion McKinley led the Trojans with 17 points.

We are currently at Disney's Hollywood Studios and then to the Magic Kingdom. I have nit had a chance to watch film, however if anyone has any questions please ask. We will continue to play hard and represent Portsmouth basketball to the vest of our ability. These student/athletes have been extremly well behaved and polite. We will be a better TEAM when we return. I'd like to say hello to Andrew, 3 games away buddy!!!

Coach Rhea, we appriciate all the udates and Info you have been giving us, thank you for taking the time to do so.

Dion seems to be on his game after the Webster game when he played limited time after being injured, good to see because we willl need the big man in every game.

Sounds like the kids are doing a fine job representing the Community..

Good luck Tommorow...let em know they have fan support keeping up from home... 8)

Is Los Alamitos a Spanish team? That name seems to be in Spanish to me
