Has anybody noticed any D-1 prospects to watch for?
Re: Has anybody noticed any D-1 prospects to watch for?
Noah Guthrie is 6'7" and averaging 28 points a game and probably 10-11 rebounds. He is strong but not sure D1. I don't know the others though you listed. Thank you.

I dont know what your talking about :122245 . Im not saying all these players are D1 caliber players im simply putting a list of the best big men in the area down and I see no flaws in my judgement based on that criteria. There are probably only 2, possibly 3, players listed above who will get the chance to play at that level.YC08 wrote:Tribe, I think you are being very biased with one of your additions to this list. Not sure if you could get anyone to agree with that addition. Do you care if we delete any? lolTribeManiac10 wrote:Blake Justice from Peebles is going to Akron.
Im not sure if you mean "big men" as in top players or literal post players. Here are the top post prospects in SEO off the top of my head...but very few, maybe only London and Kretzer, will get a chance to play at the D-1 level.
In no order(Feel free to add names..im sure I missed a few):
Malik London-6'8"-Jr.-Chillicothe
Trey Fletcher-6'5"-Soph.-Ironton
Blake Blevins-6'7"-Sr.-Manchester
Jon Sewell-6'11"/7'-Sr.-Marietta
Chris Cox-6'5"/6'6"-Sr.-Leesburg Fairfield
Jacob Daniels-6'6"-Jr.-Peebles
Dion McKinley-6'5"-Jr.-Portsmouth
Colin Kennedy-6'7"-Sr.-Chesapeake
Tre Underwood-6'4"-Sr.-Portsmouth
Jack Hart-6'8"-Sr.-Alexander
Grant Venham-6'3"-Sr.-Warren
Keenan Brush-6'6"-Sr.-Piketon
Harrison Martin-6'4"/6'5"-Sr.-Waverly
Jake Kretzer(Sort of a point forward)-6'7"-Jr.-Waverly
Andy Stegman-6'6"-Sr.-Wheelersburg
Austin McMaster-6'6"-Jr.-Chesapeake
Truthfully though I think a lot of these are far stretches, I think some people have a cloudy judgement and are not sure what it really takes to be considered a D1 ball player, let a lone become one. Wishing these boys nothing but the best but just being realistic.

No flaws, WOW! Still not convincing me that he makes this list--even if you are just listing top players!TribeManiac10 wrote:I dont know what your talking about :122245 . Honestly whats your problem? I think im catching the drift of who your referring too and it is not a biased decision to put him on this list at all. He has met, and played right along with, a few players on this list up to this point in the regular season and over the summer. Are you consiously trying to put down a high schooler or has it just become second nature for you?

Not putting anyone down, but I am consciously committing on your posts on the topic asking people for their OPINION about players in the area who are D1 material. You were brave enough to post this list, with names, putting athletes out there for discussion. Other people have commented and critqued your list you just didn't as defensive with those critiques and comments--they even mentioned specific names! Shame on them!

Intelligent criticism is always welcomed. No other poster has attempted to attack any single individual the way you seemed so eager to do. Ive added names to the list not removed them.YC08 wrote:Not putting anyone down, but I am consciously committing on your posts on the topic asking people for their OPINION about players in the area who are D1 material. This is silly, everyone else has pointed out players, most from your list, they believe don't have the ability to play D1. I did the same trying to add some humor, apparently ruffled your feathers. Sorry tribe.TribeManiac10 wrote:Intelligent criticism is always welcomed. No other poster has attempted to attack any single individual the way you seemed so eager to do. :aaaaa56 Successfully ruffled. No problem, I just hate it when people attempt to negatively portray anyone who has recieved some type of acknowledgement for their hard work and good play.YC08 wrote:This is silly, everyone else has pointed out players, most from your list, they believe don't have the ability to play D1. From the OVC there is ONE D-1 Prospect!
Austin Mcmaster. 6'6 Jr. G/f (Runs the floor like a deer, very athletic, can leave the floor quick, can shoot well) All a college coach will have to do is put some weight on him to make him stronger other than that he will be a match-up nightmare even at the D-1 level as a 6'6 G/F and chances are he isnt done growing!
As for Nathan Copley im hearing (Rio Grande, Marrietta, Capital) Also heard he may not play college ball.
As for Colin Kennedy wherever Copley plays he may go there also. Would make an ok D-2 big man if he was giving somemore time to develop in the post.
If Rio/Marriette or Capital got these two together it would be a great addition to their program!

Re: Has anybody noticed any D-1 prospects to watch for?
McMaster's is not a D-1 prospect. His speed is minimal, he cannot defend against a guard, he cannot jump that well or he would be performing the "jump ball" at the beggining of each game which he does not do. Dennis Gagai, Drew Spradlin, and Brigham Waginger were leaps and bounds ahead of Mcmasters at the same stage of their high school careers. They all attend smaller schools. I do agree McMasters will play college ball but he is nowhere near the D1 level.

Again you continue to show your ignorance. I TALK to the coaches, they are very interested and in fact Marshall will be at the SJI to see him play.

He runs the floor pretty well and also does it pretty well on the football field. 1st team all-district football as a DB.
Your argument to he can get up is he doesn't do the jump ball. You have no credibility to me now. You are some punk kid who enjoys putting high school kids down.
Drew Spradlin was not better then him as a junior, and he was not as athletic either. Covered Spradlin when he was at the Burg. Their shot is equal I would say at this point, and his ball handling skills are better then Austins, but as far as being a better athlete not even close imo.
Waginger was PG, so I find it very difficult to compare the two.
Dennis is a better scorer and shooter, but is nowhere near the athlete.
You are comparing apples and oranges.
All of those except Dennis went to D1 schools, smaller yes, but still D1. If you noticed what I said alot of those similar sized schools are interested in Austin.

Re: Has anybody noticed any D-1 prospects to watch for?
Good luck to all these potential D-1 players. Don't know anything about these young men off the courst but one very important factor, more than ever before, is academic performance. Hopefully these are all good students and can compete in the classroom as well. Unfortunately this is the dividing line for many players that could go on. If they don't excell in the classroom as well as the court the offers will not be as numerous. Just life in 2011.

McMaster 20 points at the half v AAA Parkersburg South, including a two handed slam.
