shouldn't the waverly coaches reminded their kids NOOOOOOOOOO timeouts???? Oh my.. what a way to lose another game. Sounded like a good game.
Re: IRONTON 71 VS Waverly 70 - FINAL - 1 OT
Everyone from Waverly should have been reminded of NO timeouts but kids do crazy things in the heat of the moment. Chris Webber did it and he was much older.

true but still no excuse. i would be absolutely sick if i were a waverly fan! This team has lost way too many games when you have kids like Kretzer and martin.

southernohio13,
who are you a fan of, you seem very critical of Piketon and Waverly

Agreed....if they get it together by the tournament, they could make some noise. If I was a coach, I wouldn't want to get them early in the tournament. What do the Waverly faithful feel is the issue this year? Is it coaching or what? I have my opinion, but it is only based on the 2 times I saw them vs. Burg.smurray wrote:Losing these 1, 2, 3 point games is getting rediculous. This team could be 12-2. If they start figuring out how to win them they could be dangerous.

They werent trying to foul, the ball was loose and they were battling for it,the another player called timeout.
A needed win for the Fighting Tigers.

Hard to do when theres 3-4 kids trying to get a hold of the ball.danicalifornia wrote:If there is only a second left and you're winning, just throw the ball high in the air and just launch it down court, whatever you can do to not call a timeout. What an awful way to lose a game.

Murray, I was just telling my son the same thing. The natural instinct and coached teaching is to get possession of the ball. The heat of the moment in a big road game easily can get in the way. No one play wins or losses a game in it's totality, yet everyone will remember this.smurray wrote:Everyone from Waverly should have been reminded of NO timeouts but kids do crazy things in the heat of the moment. What is lost in the lose is Waverly must have played a solid game against Ironton. I thought Irontons guard pressure would hurt the young guards from Waverly.

T ough loss for Tigers ! Great effort and very unfortunate situation at end of OT and player made mistake by calling TO with the tigers out ot TO'S. Question is why would coaching staff call TO with 12 seconds after taking lead. Ironton out of TO I think.
Anyhow, great effort by Tigers!

The timeout was called with 12 seconds because a breakaway layup was made by Waverly and the floor balance was extremely into Irontons favor. They could have thrown the ball in and pushed it up the floor for an easy layup. I thought that was a great call by Coach Robertson given the situation and the balance of the floor.

The Waverly player may of had possession of the ball at the time,My response was to the person saying to throw the ball into the air,the ball was loose on the floor Ironton and Waverly were battling for it.The kid called a timeout, the refs explained it to the coach. The kid from Waverly that came up with the ball, told his coach he didn't call a timeout and they(refs)said no it was another kid,and that kid told the coach he did infact call timeout.
Ups and downs by both teams, but all an all great game.

How can you call a timeout during a loose ball?ItownHosscat wrote:They werent trying to foul, the ball was loose and they were battling for it,the another player called timeout.

You have to remember, it takes a second for the kid to call it, and a split second for the ref to react and blow the whistle and indicate the call. The call goes when the ref recognizes it, not when the whistle blows. Hard loss.
