Logan Sectional Championship #2 Sheridan vs. #3 Logan Elm

Post by LoganElm_grad09 »

This should be a great game for a trip to the Convo. It's too bad one of these teams' season will end Friday.

Logan Elm built pretty sizable leads (15 points or so) but then started to play sloppy at the end against Fairfield Union. I would've liked to see Logan Elm keep attacking Fairfield Union and not let them get back in the game. We'll need to get a good start and not let off the gas if we want to be back in the Convo. However, I like our chances. I'd plan on getting there early too; I think the place will be packed.

GO BRAVES!

Should be a great game. Two very well coached teams with contrasting styles. Elm will be patient, sheridan likes to push the ball a little more. I hope the Generals come to play, if they do I think they advance but this game should be a battle.

if LE can stop the passes to noone that they had against LU. should be a good one. sherdian is quick and will push it up the floor in a hurry.

could go either way. these are the two best teams in the logan sectional.

cunningham from warren was nice, but i was really disappointed in their team defense.
marietta and vinton did not look good.

After careful and long thought, Sheridan by 4 is my pick.

Logan Elm is a flip the coin team right now. If they can get some things done on offense than they have a good chance. If not, then I'll take Sheridan. They played a pretty good three quarters against Fairfield Union the other night. They'll need four on Friday.

this game should be pretty intense with the way both teams pressure the ball. Both teams had their moments on tuesday, but not sure it was the best from either. Sheridan basically only played well for the 1st half and then went a little out of control again on offense. Then Logan Elm had things in hand before letting FU scratch back in the 4th. One thing is for sure, it will take a complete team effort for an entire 4 qtrs from either side to win this game on friday....

Agreed Warren was not hitting on all cylinders...Cunningham carried us on this one....but noticed Chilli could have easily lost to Circleville, so both 1 seeds were flat....so what does it mean?....win and advance, but you had better raise your level each game or you go home cause the competition gets tougher....Warren and Marietta are bitter rivals so Saturday will be a serious battle.....I take Warren and Sheridan to go to the District...

I watched both teams play on Tuesday, both have very good teams. I am very reluctant to pick against Logan Elm they play a brand of defense that is always tough to score on, by the way they held a very talented Canal Winchester to 20 points earlier this year. It never makes any sense how a High School program can continue to come back year after year after losing upper classmen like they do, by the way the freshmen class coming up is very skilled. I am going to pick Logan Elm by a 3 in a very tough game, because defense wins in games like these.

This should be a really good game tonight if the two teams play to their potential, I've watched LE for the last 5 years and they always play hard, they lost 4 starters last year and still won 15 games this year. Stiverson always gets the best out of his kids, LE doesn't rebuild, they reload! I understand everyone is up on Warren with AC, Waverly with Martin, etc, etc.....don't underestimate the Braves, if they win tonight, watch out, these kids have something to prove!

At the half

Logan Elm leads 31-6. Sheridan can't get a good look to save their lives.

LE wins 49-35. Its too bad that Sheridan didn't start to play until the 2nd half.

Seth Stonerock was the difference in this game. That kid had an amazing motor tonight.

WOW!...Like I said DEFENSE wins. Hats off to Sheridan for never quiting any other team would have quit and they did not they fought back and gave Logan Elm all they could handle. Stonerock was an absolute Beast on the glass and scored at will. Good Luck to LE at the Convo on Friday against Chilli or Unioto, I wont miss that one.

... my health didn't allow me get to this one tonight even though it was at Logan ... I told one of my colleagues at school that I thought the weak link for Sheridan was ball handling, that they would have a difficult time getting the ball up the floor vs the LE defensive pressure ... was this the case tonight ? ...

Pfloyd,

LE applied the pressure in the half court by mixing up there man to man and zone. Their team d and rebounding was great in the 1st half. They only pressed a couple times in the game.

If they can score like they did in the 1st half they are going to be a tough out. Stonerock was very good tonight.

Congrats to the Braves on returning to the Convo for the 7th consecutive year.

... thanks open post ... no question about the LE defense , great program that Coach Stiverson runs in the Northwest Territories ...EVERYTHING starts with DEFENSE ... IF the Braves can get enough offensive scoring they will tough for anyone to handle in the "one and done" season ... Coach Stiverson & Co. do it right ... AND it doesn't just "happen" at the varsity level - give lots of credit to the coaching staff that he has put together, the fundamentally sound D that the varsity plays is coached/taught from the ground/lower levels up so that when those boyz get to the varsity level it's "fine tuning" vs "starting the teaching process" - GREAT "program" at Logan Elm ...

All I can say is WOW after the first half. Logan Elm did everything to near perfection in the first half; they made shots, made good passes, played good defense, and most of all got in great position to get rebounds. Eli Pritchard changed a lot of shots in the paint early, and Seth Stonerock got some good blocks and boards. Great team effort by the Braves tonight. If they can put four quarters together like they did the first two, they will be a nightmare to a lot of teams.

Sheridan- congrats on your season. I was impressed by the following you brought to support your boys. How many do you bring back for next season?

I also have to admit, the alley-oop dunk was sweet! I had to give the kid applause for it.
