Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
congratulations to whiteoak on a great tournament run after going through a season filled with a lot of drama.
Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
Big game from Combs. I figured this game would have been closer. I got to take Manchester over Webster in the regional. It seems as though Manchester is really starting to play ball.

Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
Combs was on fire all game. I can see how he won the POY over Blevins now. Whiteoak didn't have size to compete (yes i know they beat Man earlier) to many second chance points for Manchester
Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
I think WO had enough size to compete. I didnt see the big kid for manchester snaching rebound after rebound. It almost seemed as if he stood around the 3pt line or freethrow line all game. The guard play for whiteoak is what i thought hurt them. But saying that, I think both teams PG's had a few more TO's then the coaches would have liked. Both teams played very hard and I hope that the hounds can pull off a win against SW. Go represent the SHL!!!Swanker Pine wrote:Combs was on fire all game. As for the Combs kid, nice player. I also can see why he won the POY. But as for winning it over the Blevins kid, that shoud have been a given.

a given?? i will be the first to say travis ( combs ) deserved it.....BUT blevins does avg 18 pts...12 reb....4 blks a gm......hard to say it was a "given"...........if combs can continue to grow as a player, he will be something special to watch next year
Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
I didnt mean to put blevins down... i apoligize. Those are good numbers to average, however I have watched him play at least 6 times this year, all against good quality teams and I'm not sure that I've seen him get 10 rbs in a game yet. It's almost like he seems timid during the big games to bang and get physical. I hope his comtinued success contimues and they can beat SW. With SW having 3 kids over 6'4'' he will need to play big. Good luck and we (SHL) will be pulling for you.

Re: Whiteoak vs Manchester
As many have pointed out Manchester got a great game from 6'2" junior guard Travis Combs, whom Whiteoak had no answer for. A major spark off the bench for Hounds came from #21 Kyle Adams, who gave Coach Lockhart some valuable minutes on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
As heatfan eluded, the Wildcat guard play was the major difference. Too many turnovers and inability to execute a halfcourt offense led to the difference on the scoreboard. I thought Manchester did a nice job in the second half of making Whiteoak guard for an extended period of time on possessions they did not commit a turnover, after playing more up and down in the first half.
