TFBAlum,

Very well said. Best post by you yet imo.

Only thing I disagree with, building a case for your Florida schools. When Chesapeake claims wins over AAA WV schools that are anywhere from 3-5 times the sized of Chesapeake then they still get shot down because it is "WV Basketball".

None of it really matters now, all that matters is Saturday.

Best of luck to you as well:)

Ya'll are still claiming a loss to (Logan) a AAA WV school as a win...lol...just kidding!!! Anyways, Saturday can't come quick enough!

I think He is referring to 'AAA' Parkersburg South (ranked 38th in WV) and Spring Valley (ranked 48th in WV) in which Chesapeake beat both handely

Chesapeake 78
Parkersburg South 53...........1300 students in grades 10-12

Chesapeake 83
Spring Valley 47..................Spring Valley High School opened August 1998 with an enrollment of 1,186 students (not sure what the enrollment is now).

Lost to 'AAA' Logan - ranked #8 in WV

Logan, WV 71....................814 students
Chesapeake 70

Yep....Wasn't referring to a loss obviously.

Parkersburg South is about 3x bigger then us and Spring Valley is about 5x.

I think the pekes defense and offensice weapons will be to much for portsmouth to handle. Yes their guards are quick and play good D but the two big kids are lazy alot coming up the floor. As good as chesapeake runs the floor and attacks I dont see them being able to stop them. Portsmouth also gets rattled to easy and have hot heads looking to see some technicals which will hurt them. They show boat to much and chesapeake wont slow down while they show off because they made a shot it will be shoved down the floor and an automatic layup. i see peake in this one by 15 if not more if peake comes to play like they did against garaway

I am glad they play the games, cause the way most of you on here talk Ptown should just stay home...just like Morehead and Richmond should have stayed home..Regular season isnt a good measuring stick when it comes to the tourny, some teams get better and peak at the right time..still believe Ptown by 5 or less..

I dont think they should stay home but Peake is the better ball club. Yes Ptown is good but i just dont see them beating the peake. They had the easier road to the regional finals Peake played Piketon and Garaway. Portsmouth had to play fairland which chesapeake beat by 41(x2) and they beat wheelersburg by 29. burg has improved alot i must say they really shocked me. But they arent the cliber team that either piketon or garaway are yes it is tournament time but when i watched them play fairland that was the worst i have seen fairland play all year long and only lost by 20

Not making any predictions but there is no way you can blow a 20+ point lead to Garaway and still think you can beat Portsmouth just sayin you forget Portsmouth has just as much talent if more then any school around here

I wonder how Underwood's tailbone was today. He took a nasty fall going up for a rebound and landed right on his tailbone. I've done that and know how exactly how bad it feels in the days after you done it.

Like I said before, Ptown has the athletes to hang with Peake. Bendolph will take Copley completely out of his game and Ptown matches up on the inside with them.

This game will come down to FT's down the stretch.

Piketon and Garaway are both better than the Portsmouth team I've seen SO FAR in Athens.

Maybe I expected more after reading all the comments out here about how good the Trojans were. Maybe they kick it up a notch with it being the Regional final and against Chesapeake. If the team that Trojan fans TALK about shows up, it will be a heck of a game.

But I'm telling you, if the Portsmouth team that played against South Point, Fairland and Wheelersburg the last two weeks shows up Saturday night, you will all be on here talking about how you didn't realize how good Chesapeake was. Ask Piketon fans who scoffed at those of us who said 'Peake would win by double digits. Ask anyone who has played Chesapeake and Portsmouth both who they would rather play again.

Last night's blown lead was against a top 10 team in the state. 'Peake got caught between patience and timidity in the game's last few minutes and just about let it slip. However, don't forget that we did have a 21 point lead against that top 10 team and we had about a 20 point lead against another top 10 team before winning by 16. You cannot compare that to three very mediocre performances against lesser teams....although I understand some of the circumstances with Wheelersburg.

If Portsmouth wins Saturday, then they deserve the accolades you've all been giving them. Yes, I know, they are a regional finalist and you have to be very good to make it that far. I'm not saying they aren't deserving. However, I am saying it will take a Final 4 team in the state to beat the Panthers and I haven't seen that team in Athens...yet. But this is all talk, right? Thank goodness this isn't gymnastics and there are no judges. We'll settle this dispute on the court.

Less than 48 hours.

PHS large out of state teams are Los Alamitos 21-9 3042 total enrollment so estimated 1521 boys. PHS enrollment numbers are 204 boys so that makes Los Alamitos 7.45 times bigger.
Spanish River Florida 2186 total so estimated boys are 1093 making them 5.35 times bigger
Pace Florida 1889 total so estimated boys are 4.62 times bigger.

Peak has 176 boys
Spring Valley has 921 total enrollment 460 estimated boys SV is 2.61 times bigger
Parkersburg South 1302 total enrollment 651 estimated boys making them 3.69 times bigger
Logan 634 total enrollment 317 estimated boys 1.80 times bigger

The schools Portsmouth has played out of state, may not have the best records but their size is massive. I would also assume the level of competition is greater in Florida, and California than it is in West Virginia.
Not saying this is really worth anything we both just talked about out of state schools, so I thought I would do a little math.
Not sure where you got your numbers at because they do not match mine. I got mine from
http://www.wvssac.org/new_site/WVSSAC_W ... dclass.htm
and got the Ohio info from the OHSAA page.

Guess we will find out if any of this matters in a few days.

the reason you beat burg by that much is Stegman got a techncal foul in the first half and did not play the rest of the game. Not saying burg would have won but the game would have been a little closer.

Tobias,

I am guessing you saw the WIllaims kid then from Logan who is going to Wake Forest.

I don't know how you can't be impressed if you really watched that game. Chesapeake held the lead nearly the entire game and lost it on a kid going after a loose ball in the final seconds.

I guess if you are judging Chesapeake on their one loss to a pretty good team then I guess it could be worse. I hope you have seen Chesapeake beat two top 10 teams one by double digits and the other they had 19 going into the 4th.

I think Africentric is a comparable team to Portsmouth, good guard play, nice 6'5 athletic kid who can go inside and out. I think it will be a similar result.

Can't wait for this game. So tired of the talk.

Peake - I agree, I think that ptown and africentric are very much alike. I hope we have the same results.
