5:45 first games should be some good bball league was well organized and got each team some much needed summer games usually 2 a night
Re: Jackson Summer League starts 6/7
Apparently Gallipolis did not sign-up for the event this summer and will not participate. It's been a well-run event the past few years. Sorry to see this happen to the Blue DFevils.

Jackson, Circleville, Oak Hill, Nelsonville-York, Athens, Wellston, Eastern(Pike), Southern, South Gallia, River Valley, Meigs, & Minford are the teams participating. Each team will play 11 games over the next 4 Tuesday nights at Jackson High School. Games start at 5:45 & the last begins at 8:00. There will be 4 sessions of games per night.

Each team gets 3 weeks with 2 games and 1 week with 3 games so they play 9 bball games in june which is awesome.Heath_McKinniss wrote:Jackson, Circleville, Oak Hill, Nelsonville-York, Athens, Wellston, Eastern(Pike), Southern, South Gallia, River Valley, Meigs, & Minford are the teams participating. updates from the games would be great just for our interests.....but we realize how much they actually mean
It's great game experience for MANY kids from several different schools.

Sorry I asked. I didn't realize it was a secret how these teams did.
Re: Jackson Summer League starts 6/7
Honestly....I didn't even see your post. I only noticed the updates...which I enjoy as much as anyone.....but often many kids on here use it during the regular season. I'll say that every team in that league can beat any other team in the league.....which makes for a good league and most importantly...kids getting better.
Didn't mean to offend.

I know South Gallia lost to Southern by double digits with the Matney boy sitting out the last 8 minutes. Coach Caldwell has those boys really playing hard. South Gallia played Jackson the 2nd game and South Gallia was up around 20 points and then won by about 15.

I have to disagree with you on the games not meaning anything. Teams that play well during the summer usually play well in the winter.
Re: Jackson Summer League starts 6/7
I never said they didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things as players get valuable playing time and experience.
All I was speaking of was if Jackson for example beat Wellston by 20 in a summer league game and then wellston got off to 12-1 start while Jackson was 3-7...Kids would be saying that Jackson handled them easily over the summer and so forth.
So many kids are not available every week of the league...to me the outcomes OFTEN mean very little.

I saw a team there whose coach played 15 kids, including freshmen and jv players. I guess it is what each coach wants to get out of it. The experience is important for all of them.
Re: Jackson Summer League starts 6/7
^^^^^ IMO they should be playing all the kids that they choose to bring to the league...at least get them in there some

Summer ball is a great barometer for what is to come in the winter, some may not think so especially if the school you support is getting hammered.Of course there will be some improvements and gelling to take place but the good teams in the summer will be the good teams in the winter.Good to hear the Trojans went 5-1 yesterday without their leading scorer Wayne Evans. GO TROJANS
