Im not trying to be smart here or anything, but obviously you havent watched much of Peake. McMaster doesnt guard the post. He is a wing and will guard a wing. Just throwing my two cents in. McKinley may guard McMaster, but he doesnt play offense in the post either. If that happens it pulls Mckinley away from the basket taking away his rebounding....so I dont know what Portsmouth game plan is or what the matchups will be. Either way, I'm sure both coaches know what they are doing. Just adding a little information here for you. Im not predicting an outcome. Whoever plays their best game, stays out of foul trouble and has the least turnovers will win obviously.blackcobra wrote:McMaster can't handle McKinley. McMaster is not as athletic in the long haul. Portsmouth vs Chesapeake Regional semifinal

And saying a guy who also played QB for a football team who made the playoffs, and also tied a STATE and NATIONAL record for the longest run from the line of scrimmage is not a true athlete is a slight understatement. lol
Re: Portsmouth vs Chesapeake Regional semifinal
McKinley is not a d1 player. He is an inch taller the Marshall's combo guard deandre kain. Mcmaster is every bit as athletic as dion, but they have two very differ games. Dion will be a 3/4 in college with Austin being a combo guy at 6'5 .

Re: Portsmouth vs Chesapeake Regional semifinal
I really like Chesapeake's starting five. I think any coach would be fortunate to have any of them on their team. However, I really don't think they are physical enough to beat the Trojans. I believed going into Saturday's game with Portsmouth and Valley, after having watched Peake-Peebles, the winner of the VHS-PHS game would defeat the Panthers in the Regional Semi's. I really believe Portsouth is athletic enough to match-up with Peake's strengths, and physical enough to exploit what I believe is the Panthers weakness at this level. I'm sure there are those of you who will respond by saying Chesapeake has played and defeated physical teams already this year. While I agree, I counter that by reminding folks the level of physicality when you get to this point in the season is at an entirely elevated level. The Trojans' defense in the post and on the perimeter is every bit as physical as it is furiously quick! The Panthers are a much more finesse, athletic team. They are definitely fun to watch the way they play together and execute, but I believe whole-heartidly that the Trojans should be favored to win.
No matter what, I think this game will be a lot of fun to watch!

OK, to the best of my knowledge the only thing he has been offered is Columbus State. And that is a good offer and great accomplishment. Any kid that gets any offers to play on the next level is great. Can you teach him to play the 3 guard and guard 6'1" and 6'2"? It's my opinion, but I don't see it?blackcobra wrote:OK Sorry I may have overshot that. Maybe NKU Middle Tennessee State, Marshall, OU, Indiana State ETC. Out of Bounds, idk what you are seeing but in IMO Dion won't be guarding Mcmaster on the perimeter unless a switch was forced on a ball screen. Also Mcmaster won't be guarding Mckinley in the post unless they were forced to switch for whatever reason but I may be totally off. Anyway both are great players in their own right but this won't come down to just them there will be 4 others on each team on the court with them!! And I think it comes down to who takes care of the ball better!! I know Portsmouth had very little if none against LV but as I was watching that game LV didn't apply much pressure on or off the ball as that sat in their zone defense..

Re: Portsmouth vs Chesapeake Regional semifinal
McKinley would have to play on the wing at a school that size. Im sure he will end up on a college roster somewhere but these estimates I think are a little off. Purely on the basis of size and position constraints(at 6'5" he would have to be able to play at the three spot, which I think he could with the shooting ability and athleticism he has) I see him at a school like Ohio Dominican or Ashland University. Anyone know how hard Shawnee is on him? Dion is an awesome player but the only person I have seen this year and thought the only level he would play at would be D1 was Jake Kretzer.blackcobra wrote:OK Sorry I may have overshot that. What are the eligibility requirements for NAIA? Last time I checked you had to meet two of the three criteria: 2.0 GPA, 18 on ACT, and top 50% of class I believe. I would love to see Dion stay around the area and go to Shawnee. He is a fine player and would look great in a Bears uniform.Out of Bounds wrote:Dime12- I'm not referring to who he guards in the Peake game. I was conversing with blackcobra on where he fits in college.
And I agree with Tribe a little, but IMO he needs to go to a JUCO. From my understanding he has an IEP and will need to bare down to stay eligible. I don't think many NAIA schools are going to gamble on that when he is limited to being an inside player. He does not have the dribbling skills or jump shooting skills to play the perimeter and I don't think he can guard the 4's in the league Tribe is talking. That's why I say JUCO is the way to go. He is still a nice player and as I said earlier, any lever after school a kid can go play is an excellent opportunity.
As far as the game goes, I look forward to a battle. I think if Portsmouth runs the floor, hits shots, and Dion plays to his potential, then it can be a 8-10+ point win for the Trojans. If they do not do these things or if the Peake hits threes like they did the other night, then it can be a long trip back for PHS. I could see some matchup concerns for Coach Collins and his staff.
Best of luck to both teams.

For what it's worth, CalPreps has Chesapeake defeating Portsmouth on a neutral floor by a score of 60-58.
