Has anyone seen both Ironton AND Coshocton play for comparisons? How does Coshocton match up with the Tigers?

Another team that would like to hold the TIGERS in the low 40's. TIGERS have to get out and run and play inside out. Get this game in the high 50's. GOOD LUCK FIGHTING TIGERS !!!!

Re: Ironton VS Coshocton Regional semifinal
Coshocton is a very good team lead by 6-7 all-state Brandon "Stretch" Taylor.Kid can post up and shoot from the perimeter. He scores 23 a game and is a player kinda like Kretzer but not as wide but is a man looks like he's 30.He plays to much on the perimeter for me.They have another big 6-5 Jarvis that is a true post player and is wide.Creighton??? Is a nice wing and plays good defense. This team has some bad weakness at guard. Not only are they small they don't shoot it well.Bowman 5-6 is the teams starting pg and will get abused by Carter. If Flecther and Carter bring the Ironton Tigers should win.

GOOD LUCK IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS.
Get out quick & establish. MAKE THEM, play on "Tiger terms"!
Would live a win & R-E-M-A-T-C-H with Peake or Ports. Those two teams will get you in the final four "MINDSET" fast , with a well-deserved "W"!

From the Ironton Tribune:

http://www.irontontribune.com/2012/03/1 ... emifinals/
Of the Division III regional qualifiers, the Ironton Fighting Tigers and Chesapeake Panthers are making their 13th trips while the Portsmouth Trojans are making a Southeast District record 36th appearance.
However, Coshocton has reached the regional tournament for the first time since 1983. They ended their 29-year draught by beating Sugarcreek Garaway 46-26 in the district finals.
Ironton (18-5) will play Coshocton (18-5) at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the first game at the Ohio University Convocation Center. Chesapeake (22-1) and Portsmouth (21-2) will square off in the 8 p.m. game.
The two winners will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday for the right to advance to the state tournament to face the winner of the Bowling Green regional.

Re: Ironton VS Coshocton Regional semifinal
Some stuff about the Coshocton Redskins:
The Redskins play in the Eastern District. In the last five years, Eastern District teams have gone 3-4 at the D-III Athens Regional, but have not won a game since 2008, when Sugarcreek Garaway was the Regional champ.
This will be the first trip to the Regionals for Coshocton in 28 years. The Redskins' last Eastern District crown was in 1983.
Unlike Ironton's junior dominated team, Coshocton is led by its 7 seniors. Newspaper reports indicate that these 7 seniors have been playing basketball together since the first grade. Clearly, Coshocton is a team of home-grown talent.
The senior class at Coshocton has proven their athletic prowess this school year by qualifying for 4 different regional competitions (boys basketball, football, and boys and girls soccer).
The Redskins have been very stout defensively this season, giving up only an average of 47 points per game. No team has scored more than 40 against them in the postseason.
Although common opponents between Coshocton and Ironton do not exist, some comparables may be gained from the two games won by Coshocton over Meadowbrook. The Redskins thumped Meadowbrook by +32 and +33 this season. Ironton foe St. Clairsville (who is still alive in the D-II postseason) beat Meadowbrook by +18. Of course, Ironton defeated St. Clairsville by +13 at the Convo back in December. While comparable scores can sometimes be dangerous to rely upon, on their face, these games indicate that Ironton and Coshocton are fairly evenly matched.
As stated in an earlier post, Coshocton is led by the one-two inside scoring tandem of Brandon Taylor and Drew Jarvis. Taylor has signed an LOI to play college ball next season at D-II Newberry College. In the announcement of Taylor's signing on the Newberry website, it is stated that the 6-7 Taylor played much of his sophomore and junior years for Coshocton as a point guard, and holds the school record for assists in one game. According to Newberry Coach Dave Davis:
"He [Taylor]is versatile and can play anywhere for us. His basketball IQ is very high and he has a true understanding of the game. He can shoot the three, post you up and win games for us with his ability to pass the basketball. He is playing for an excellent high school coach in Tom Hilgenberg and he will come to us prepared for most of what we will throw at him. We are very fortunate to land a player a Brandon’s quality, particularly in the early signing period."
The CalPreps prediction for this game on a neutral court is Ironton 61, Coshocton 55.
Given the difficulty the Tigers had in rebounding the ball against Eastern Brown on Saturday night (minus 10), and given Coshocton's proven ability to guard, this matchup will be a very difficult one to say the least.

Re: Ironton VS Coshocton Regional semifinal
Coshoctons guards are really not very good to be honest and I love the eastern district.
