Eagles are 6-2 with 2 big league games up next atSymmes Valley on JAN4 and then East next Tuesday.

Win these Eagles and you will still have a shot at the league title!

Another league win by the Eagles over Symmes Valley 56-42 the Eagles put 3 players into double figgures again last night . Easterns deffense looked decent last night hope this was just a hangover game from the Holliday Classic wins. They are now 7-2 and have East at home next.

Well the boys are on a roll 5 in a row ! There deffense has been the difference last 5 games they are giveing up 40.5 points per game !! That's outstanding deffense. And on offense when they move the ball they are hard to handle. They need to be on there game East just came off of there best win of the season and will be riding high on emotion ! The boys need to come out and hit them hard and make a statement !

Tonight makes 6 straight for the Eagles nice win over a good East team that entered the game at 7-2 and just come off a big win over Webster. The Eagles put 3 in double figgures once again. Nice job boys.Now get ready for Green Friday.

Another big league game for the boys traveling to Latham to take on the Indians. The Eagles better be focused cause the Indians have the ability to take it to them if there not ready to play. Another win for our Eagles tonight at Western. 3 players in double figgures again led by Lands. Lightle and I think Pickett were the other two. Now time to get ready for Notre Dame Friday . Good luck boy get that deffense going !!

WOW !! What a game the Eagles played tonight great win for them. They put 3 players in double figgures again. Lead by Pickett 23, Lands ( who scored his 1,000 th point) 17 and Lightle with 12 and the game winner . Murphy and Picket were men in the paint tonight. Now get ready for a red hot Symmes Valley team who has won 5 straight. Good job EAGLES !!

My bad I looked at my schedule wrong the Eagles play New Boston and Clay then the red hot Symmes Valley.

Well I think if there is one word that describes this years team it would be "Dangerous " !! I think last years game against Afrocentric really helped this years squad. 4 of the 5 starters were on that team. The speed they faced and the all out commitment to deffense that is needed to play at that level has developed this Eagle team into a dangerous team. They can go 9 deep they can press the opposition in several ways full court man and zone . They have individual shut down deffenders at guard in Fultz and Thacker who can take the best guards out of there game. And Murphy has developed into one of if not the best post deffenders in our league he held Bias from East a 6'10 guy to "15" points Murphy is 6'1 and he had him by himself no double team just BMurphy. The Eagles have 5 player averageing right at double figgures 3 are there in Lands,Pickett,and Lightle and Thacker and Murphy are very close. This team has great ball handling and is hard to guard as they are very unselfish makeing the extra pass to the open man. I don't know what the rest of the season holds for this team but they seem to still be improveing every game which is a testament to Coach Fitch and his staff. They set at 11-2 and 6-1 in the league and have 9 straight wins since loss back to back games vs Oak Hill and Notre Dame in which the Eagles had double figgure leads in the second half and let slip away. Coach Fitch has the Eagles playing hard on the deffensive end and on offense they are very ,very hard to deffend Pickett is such a matchup nightmare for opposing teams and With the guards we have Lands ,Lightle,Thacker and Fultz they can shoot the three attack the rim all 4 can handle with either hand and flat out score the ball. Most teams we face don't have 5 shut down deffenders so the boy simply pass it to the guy with the mismatch last game it was Pickett at Notre Dame and at Symmes it was Thacker who at 6'1 draws a bigger deffender that can't guard him 20 foot away from the rim. I have no idea how this season is going to end . But with a Holliday classic tournament win already and winning at Notre Dame ( the first loss in 2 years at home for Notre Dame) it has been fun already. They have a tuff final stretch of games coming up so good luck EAGLES keep that "D" going you hold your own destiny kept those league wins comeing and get that league championship !!

Didn't make it to the game last night, I heard Chad was sick also heard he rolled an ankle? Also heard Murphy left the game early with an ankle? Anyone have the scoop on this one, Lightle04?

Murphy tweaked his ankle but was getting around fine after the game. He hurt it at the start of the second quater I beleave. And Phipps was sick so we played without Lands,Murphy,and Phipps last night so 2 starter and the 7th man. The boys still played well and put 4 in double figgures . If this team stays committed to deffense there going to be a tuff out come turney time.

Eagles have to handle Clay and then get ready for a HUGE week next week ! With a game lead over Notre Dame and Symmes Valley ,the Eagles welcome Stmmes Valley to the NEST for a giant game to solidify there #1 seed at the Meigs sectional and then go to East to play the Tartans on Friday the eagles can basicly get a foot hold on winning the league outright sharing it with Notre Dame and Symmes, or finishing #3 in the league . And then Saturday they go to Zane Trace. A killer week for the boys .

Nice road win for the Eagles at Clay 60-44 they played without there starting center Murphy. The boys seemed a little flat but there deffense once again carried them . Pickett played well last night and the guards pounded the ball to him in the paint all night for scores. You can tell that was the game plan cause the guards took fewer shot attemps then usual and force fed the post Tay was to much for Clays post players and the Eagles rolled to there 11th straight win.

Ok, are you watching the same game as everyone else??? They do not go 9 deep! They go 6 deep on a regular basis and 7 deep sometimes. The other kids are lucky to see the floor. The Phipps boy has seen a little more playing time lately but not much. Dyke sees very little unless one of the big boys get in foul trouble. As for the remaining 4 - Creech and Alley get very little playing time, Lykins and Pollen get next to none. This is definitely not a 9 deep squad. I feel bad for those boys who have worked their tales off since junior high and are not being allowed to play, especially when the team is ahead enough to put some in to get them ready to help out during tournament time.
I would agree that the Murphy boy is improving underneath. He doesn't seem as out of control when he has the ball underneath as he had. I am surprised he is still on this team though with his temper. (Not just this year either!) Most teams would have kicked him off by now. Not sure if any punishment was given him either. Heard he started the next game after one of his blowups.
I do hope the Eagles make a long tournament run and make it to the Elite 8 again. They have a great group of kids on their squad.

I agree with OSU3 on some things. The team is not 9 deep from the games I have seen. But, I have seen Fitch give several bench some significant time and to be honest I never remember at any time feeling any of them "earned" more time with their play. Dyke is raw and hasn't played. Phipps joined the team late I was told due to illnes or injury so he started late? And I certainly dont know what the other boys do at practice. But I have seen several blowout games where our second unit more than struggled against SOC1 schools second teams. I would say coach will play those that he feels gives the best chance to win. (doubt anyone would leave the best players on the bench without other reasons?). This is varsity basketball and you play to win. Junior high means nothing now.

I also see some attitudes that I dont like to see at times (more than Murphy kid). Anyhow, lets support these Eagles and hope that they can go on another tourney run.
