Jim Myers Memorial Scholarship 3-on-3 basketball tournament

LOGAN — The fourth annual Jim Myers Memorial Scholarship 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held Saturday, June 2, at Logan High School in the facility that bears his name, Jim Myers Gymnasium.

The event is sponsored by Kroger of Logan.

The tournament was created in memory of James E. Myers, a longtime local youth coach and editor and sports writer for The Logan Daily News, who passed away in 2007 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer after sharing many years on the court as a coach to thousands of kids aspiring to play basketball.

This will be the fourth year for the tournament, in which those taking part have been able to share his love for the game and help raise money to provide scholarships to high school students continuing onto college.

The registration fee is $50 per team, and entry forms and fees must be postmarked by May 19. There will be an additional $20 late fee for registrations paid after May 19.

There will be divisions for the following:

Youth: Grades 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12. There will be separate divisions for boys and girls, and grades are those the student will enter next fall.

Adult: Male, female, co-ed, under 30 and over 30.
