What a joke. The athlete and his mom didn't care, the administration and board reprimanded and moved on. It's amazing how powerful parents are....and persistent. I don't get it at all.

"Lousy" is a little harsh Solomon.

Heath and his staff had them very competitive staying right with Chilly and Portsmouth during the season.

I edited the post I92 ... I agree, lousy was a poor choice of words.

Even though I'm not even from Jackson, I think its very sad news that Coach McKinniss decided  to resign. He is a very hardworking, dedicated, and talented coach. Jackson just lost a good one.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for the administration of Jackson City schools. Unfortunately though, some of the constituents of district(like any district) have used personal vendettas to create what ultimately is a hardship that will only negatively affect the kids of their district.

Good luck trying to find a coach that will be as dedicate as Coach McKinniss.

Heard Pat Stevens from Kings High School might be interested in the job...isn't he the current head coach at Kings?

That would be Mike.
Pat is AD at McClain. I think he is still there.

I92 is correct, I have been having some fun with this because I get to talk about lame guys like Morrow and Kight. However, in all seriousness, it is a shame how this all happened. Although I don't really know Coach McKinness, everyone I know speaks very highly of him. Things like this are what causes good people to get out of coaching. Hopefully, things are straightened out and Coach McKinness is back into coaching in the near future.

10-0 Regional Semis last year....playoffs the year before....8-2 seems about average over the past 17 years.

it is hard for someone new to come in and compete with that kind of football success. how long has the current football coach been there?

I think it is crucial when they hire a new basketball coach, for him to set down and get on the same page with the football coach. At Minford Coach Shoe and Daniels are on the same page, and summer basketball moves pretty smoothly, kids will even get shots up before weights.

Very few JHS football players play basketball.

Only a lineman and a guard for sure.

I am not from Jackson, but really "get on the same page as the football coach" All of that sounds good, except that it appears to me that the Jackson Football Program has ALWAYS operated as if it were the only program there and could care less about being on the same page as the boys basketball.

It can be viewed that way as they are the big program. I will say in dealing with one of the football assistant coaches during their off-season conditioning....he was extremely supportive of our in season practice and cleared the football field for us and wished us luck. Great respect for that.

I am deeply saddened that Coach McKinniss had resigned. I have had the pleasure to meet several coaches throughout the area and had the honor to call some of them, "Friend;" with that being said, there is NO nicer, NO more compassionate, and NO more giving coach in the area than Coach McKinniss. It is truly the loss of the Jackson City School District and Athletics. Furthermore, I am extremely appalled that one person, a small town hair-stylist, with an agenda and a grudge was able to manipulate and bully the administrators of the districts to set this ball in motion. The administrators should be embarrassed and the hair-stylist ashamed.

It is pathetic HP!! To have such an avengeful side and have nothing to gain for themselves but the satisfaction of seeing they have the power and or influence to completely change someone's career for the worst! I cannot believe they could possibly be proud of themselves and feel they have accomplished something positive. They see the position of "Coach" as just a title. Not a person, teacher, husband, father or friend. What they took from him was very passionate to him and his family. I hope she and her family are happy and I also hope what goes around comes around! Karma is B**CH which is a term I feel she knows very well!

Sent from someone closer to the situation ... Take it for what its worth - and perhaps find out all facts before directing all the anger toward just one person ... I have absolutly no dog in the fight - I'm just throwing out some second hand info I thought may be usefull.

"A group of people, and not the hair-stylist he references, went to the ODE and got this accomplished. He was made to resign from coaching.....or else risk lose his teaching job.
She was done with the situation because she had no daughters or sons in the program. But others were bound and determined to go even deeper than his 5-game ban at the start of the year."
