Doesn't Wellston already have a coach? If Alex can't attract a veteran coach, than they are going to take a step backward.

How does a veteran coach become a veteran? Some point along the line he got a shot.

Because they are letting go a veteran coach who also is their all time games winner. I don't disagree with you New Era, I am just saying it appears a contradiction.

He may have the most losses to go with the wins. Win % around 56%

Givengo is absolutely correct. Zero wins in the district tournamen. 1 tvc title. Name another school with their all time winningest coach having those minimal statistics. Enough was enoug. Time to move forward, brighter days ahead.

Does anyone know the real reason why they aren't going to bring him back?

River Valley finished 3 wins and 20 loses. Hill has no district appearances at River Valley. Not sure you consider this an up grade. I'm not sure about the rebuilding being over with either.

I don't think Coach Gabriel should be let go, however, Coach Hill deserves a free pass - Coaching at RV is paying some dues.

I agree with you Spartan. I don't think he should be let go for multiple reasons. But it also seems like everyone is already considering the outside to be a new coach. I wonder if there is anyone on the inside (teachers) that want the job.

Normally teachers don't make the best coaches. It's normally just extra money for them plus there's the part about being qualified.

Yes, because coaching has nothing to do with teaching.

Maybe if you are talking about someone at the JH level.

Name a great coach in the area that is not in the school system? Your comment makes absolutely no sense.

What are the reasons he should not have been let go? Just out of curiosity.

From the outside looking in, I haven't often come away impressed by the job he did at Alexander. Medicore teams who exit in the first game of the convo always.

catsandbucks. Well he has had some team records in alexander history that you might not know of. Like fewest points given up (Avg). Most points. Win % in season. But just getting away from actually coaching on the court is a big reason. He done a lot more than most people know of. He generated about $12k a year and spent it all back on kids. That is multiple fund raisers and a lot of time. I would say a lot of vacation days used. Most of all former players liked him. I mean its been rebuilding years the last few years. Every school goes through it. I don't think a coach that has been there for 11 years should not be recommended bcause of his record the last couple of years

You are correct. All of those records were from his first few seasons. Problem is that anyone who was around the program at that time knows that his son was doing most/all of the coaching. I know because I was around. The current product that people have seen at the varsity level is a complete result of his development.

I would check your facts about all the money going back to the kids.

Liking and respecting a coach are 2 different things.

Well his son only helped him coach one year. And one of those team records that I was referring to was either last year or year before. And the fundraisers he raises goes back to the kids and some people who help out tremendously. Constantly giving back to the players, school, and community. We can sit here an argue if its right or wrong about being let go but we still do not know the actual reason he isn't being recommended. We know there has to be someone behind the AD since he has only been around the school for a year. But still doesn't tell us a reason
