Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Phil Jackson couldn't fix this or pat riley I just meant its going to take a community and a community will back one of their own before ne one else and it will build faster kids have been leaving or not playing for whatever reason that's why I think one of our own can turn it around I didn't say win a bunch of games but able to stabilize a program that I think could've won more games this yr. If they would have played without a coach just my opinion I know probably not a good one but I'm just giving the kids the benefit of the doubt.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
I don't know what the answer is but it definitely is not Mcavena. Someone has to educate the community at river valley.

I just meant the last two hires were from out of the county one older and one younger and were at 3-20 and a huge crossroad.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
i see someof you have been listening to the talking heads at espn and picked up some new terminology with the "recycled coaches" comments. lol
it's already been put out there, hire OZ, step back and let him do his job. no interference from administration or parents and see what happens. then i'll say I TOLD YOU SO.

Oz is to smart to touch this job. It would take Oz 25 years to create a stable program at river valley. Oz is one of the top 20 coaches in Ohsaa history. He's to smart to take this job.

I agree with oz pick the only thing that concerns me how long would u get him for I would hate to see him put a lot of work into.the rebuild and turn it over and it backslide cause he don't have another 40plus yrs in him and on one condition he couldn't hire hill as an asst.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
bring oz in for 5-6 years or longer if he wants. he hires any assistant he wants. you also let him hire the coach that follows him.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
maybe but it might just be a challenge he would like to face. never know until you ask.Prep Expert wrote:Oz is to smart to touch this job. It would take Oz 25 years to create a stable program. Oz is one of the top 10 coaches in Oshawa history. He's to smart to take this job.

Re: River Valley Coaching Search
No hill should b banned from returning absolutely not!!! He resigned his a.d. and coaching job not his teaching job so no he's not to b an asst. To actually learn how its done nor should he b allowed to return. He ran it straight into the ground. That's a no no!!
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Well they should just interview all candidates and make the decision then, best way to ensure they take a good look.

I agree Dr. Lou on that one. Cause I'm sure everyone has an idea how to fix it.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Another vote for Pertuset here. He's a young guy ready to take over a program from the biddy level up. He's the direction I would go.

LOL @ people actually thinking Oz would be remotely interested in this job. Also, what will the excuse be if Hill goes somewhere else and succeeds?

Correct on the name, just spoke with someone I seen at the Convo. Nice, and poised young man.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
I agree blizzard man. 5 or 6 is. tops. They will definitely not out coach anyone. Jeffers couldn't outcoach a good T-ball coach. They need BEVO on staff. His knowledge and expertise could win them 15 games.

Here is why River Valley will never be successful at any sport. This post was taken off the baseball thread. If you are only winning 2 or 3 games in every sport it might not be the coaching. It is time for the players and parents to take responsibility and quit blaming the coaches. Any coach that takes this job is going to put a hurting on his coaching career. They would have zero support from administration and fans. It is easier to just lay down in every sport and blame the coaches.

Re: River Valley Coaching Search
Coach Harrison has 3 years varsity experience already and is familiar to Gallia Co. He would bring the energy necessary to building this program. And a reliable source tells me he is interested.
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
I've heard from some pretty good sources that Jim Slone, who has been an assistant under Norm Persin at Oak Hill for many years, will be the next Head Coach at River Valley. Slone will bring a no non sense approach to the Raiders program. He's also an expert at coaching the 1-3-1 zone defense. If this really happens it will be quite a blow to Norm and the Oaks program but would be great for River Valley. I wonder if Oak Hill's other two assistants, Hale & Hale might follow?
Re: River Valley Coaching Search
One thing about it if Slone gets this job he won't be pushed around and will put a stop to the non sense that has been going on there.
