Columbus Teams assigned to Athens Regionals...
The fact Columbus schools don't get assigned to Athen Regionals has really helped D2 and D3 teams of southern Ohio make the tournament over the past several years. Glad they go somewhere else because it seems southern Ohio teams would run into them quite often and not make it to the Final Four.
Will Columbus teams ever get put back to Athens regionals? How does this get decided?

Think 2009 when The Chef's beloved Redstreaks beat Columbus Grandview Heights in Regional final was the last year???
Re: Columbus Teams assigned to Athens Regionals...
Chef: I am speculating that it has to do with the number of teams in our area in each division. For example in 2009 Piketon and North Adams made it to the regional and were the only two teams in DIII from our area. There was also only two sectional sites that year, I'm guessing because teams that are borderline on numbers went up or down a division. If the number of teams in our area goes down in DIII the Columbus teams could be coming back.

Who are all the world beaters in Columbus that southern teams can't beat? Ironton has beaten a long list of impressive D2 and D3 teams from the Columbus area.

Maybe not any this year but The Chef got a program from the Regionals this year and if you look at the Athens Regional winners for a long period of time about half the winners or more were Columbus teams. Noticed a total absence the past few years. On top of that many of those Columbus teams were private schools.

chef_piketon why do you always post in the third person? It gives the Fred a head ache.

Because The Chef is the alter ego...Clark Kent - Superman... Dr Jekyll - Me Hyde...type of thing The Chef guesses. Sorry for the headache. Nothing a big bowl of The Chefs chili couldn't remedy.

The Chef is a culinary expert, posing bard, and conissseur of fine whiskey used exclusively for cooking and medicinal purposes of course. Actually The Chef goes all the way back to the golden era of blogging starting with JJHuddle until they priced themselves out of the game. Have given it up few times over the years and thinking about cashing in the chips and turning out the lights as getting out as resident "homer" for The Chefs beloved Streaks. It's been an incredible amount of fun and the teams at Piketon have been a thrill a minute.

The Chef will be sticking around. Won't be the same without him. Btw. I coin the name The oven for the Redstreak Palace way back in the Huddle days. Back when Ankle Breaker was ruling the courts.
