Halftime at Waverly was extended due to one of the officials becoming ill. He received medical attention and was transported to the local hospital. Please keep John Jackson in your prayers.

The final at Waverly was 52-38. The Tigers had it cut to 9 with 3:10 to play at 44-35 but just didn't have the manpower to get any closer. Tigers had the effort tonight, just not knocking down the shots.
Mason Chapman played an inspired second half grabbing rebounds and scoring all his game high 11 points for the Tigers in the 2nd half. Jake Henderson hit two triples in the first quarter and one in the 3rd for 9 points. Dakota Garrett hit 2 treys in the 4th for 6 points. Case Marquez hit a 3 in the 4th to cut the lead to 9, added a bucket in the 3rd and a FT in the fourth for 6 points. Ethan Adrien added a bucket in the 2nd to round out the scoring for the Tigers.

Brandon Rowe lead the Falcons with 21. Trey Kelley added 9, Dillon Shepherd 8, Jared Alley 6, Kenton Gullion 5, Michael Miller 3.

Minford was 5-9 from the line while the Tigers were 2-6.

First, let me say prayers for the official who was ill last night! Was wondering why he possibly didn't blow the whistle in the first half but that explains it. The heat in the gym might have played a factor; Waverly gym looked great but probably the hottest gym I've been in as a fan but God's speed to the official on his recovery!
Waverly did ratchet up the effort in the second half and Minford looked somewhat fatigued. Not to take anything away from Waverly but it appeared Minford was using the early lead to work on some other defensive sets? They started in man to man and then switched to their more prevalent 1-2-2 in the second quarter, outscoring Waverly 18-4 I believe in the quarter. Second half 1-3-1 and man to man wasn't as effective but I'm certain they took the opportunity to work on those in this game (IMO). Again, not to take away from Waverly's effort but the game was never in jeopardy for Minford. I liked the approach of working on defense but did think on the offensive side of the ball Minford got a bit selfish most of the game. Gotta play team ball in EVERY game. A bad shot is a bad shot even if it goes in! Waverly did indeed make a run in the second half but certainly had more to do with Minford throwing up some early or contested shots on several straight possessions. But, overall all the players had opportunities. Just like to see the BEST opportunity being taken on each possession. Chapman had 4 fouls for a long time and that's saying something in a game in which only 8 total fouls had been called late in the second half. No problem with letting them play but if you have an opportunity to get the guy who is hurting you the most at that time out of the game, you've gotta go inside and do it rather than settle for missed 3's or forced shots. Again, understand wanting to work on some weaker aspects of the defensive side but the game isn't even close if you stay unselfish and disciplined on the offensive side. Glad to see another win but hope to see more ball movement on Friday versus Webster. Also believe you need to identify the way you are going to play offensively and stick with it, no matter the opposition (ie. good ball movement/balanced attack). Minford has shown the ability to take the best shot at times and against better opposition but sometimes gets a little off track against teams they should beat easily. Shout out to Waverly staff and players. I've not seen a Waverly team that didn't play hard with this coaching staff. Waverly is gonna get there....very unfortunate loss of players through injury/relocation but some very good athletes coming for them!

Dude.....First let me say I feel like you bring some good info to the board concerning Minford.

But darn man, try to use a paragraph every once in a while. Your stuff is brutal to read like that. JMO
