12/12 Meigs @ Athens
12/12 Meigs @ Athens
Meigs hasn't started out the season very well, but have faced 2 very tough teams in Warren and Fairland....How will they do against Athens? Will Athens be in basketball mode yet?
Meigs hasn't found themselves yet and I think this is another game that we will lose by 25+
Hope I am wrong, and it is at least a good close game that can give Meigs a little confidence as they head into the season with having the harder teams out of the way.

Oh it was very sloppy...turnovers, turnovers, turnovers....Couldn't make any shots...I'd hate to see the field goal percentage.Gobigblue00 wrote:39 pionts Really, they must be sorry.
I'm not gonna say anything else...keeping my opinions to myself...lol
However I will say this...Our JV Boys WON!!!

1. Meigs has a nice group of soph's - put them together with a solid JV team and Meigs could be a pretty good team as early as next year.
2. Why isn't Ty Phelps on the floor? Is he injured? That will help if he can get out there.
Athens of course looked pretty good. Expectations have been lowered with the loss of Ibi Watson, but Saltzmen deciding not to play kind of hurts. Having that consistent wing shooter (and penetrator) made Athens extremely difficult to guard when you have Burrow on the other wing, and the twins down low.

Saltzman deciding not to play kind of hurts. That’s an understatement.93Bulldog wrote:1. Meigs has a nice group of soph's - put them together with a solid JV team and Meigs could be a pretty good team as early as next year.

I think Athens lack of depth will hurt them in games against better teams will see.

Foul trouble is a HUUUUGE issue for Athens. But I've seen teams make tournament runs on the back of just one player. Athens has two (Lutz and Burrow) and two pretty darn good 6'5 post players. So we'll see what happens.

I agree they have the 4 players that can get it done. I just worry a bit about what you said Fouls93Bulldog wrote:Foul trouble is a HUUUUGE issue for Athens. We are hurt at the big man position, we do have a little height, but absolutely no strength at all. You have to be able to push bodies around underneath and be aggressive...We do not have that at all. That and our shots from the guards just aren't falling and our point guards are having some trouble not turning the ball over...Not going to win ball games when your averaging 24 turnovers a game.
I'm not gonna count us out yet...we are still very young and we have probably played 3 of the toughest teams there is to play.
As for Athens and fouling, Did they even have any fouls called on them last night, because the 2nd half we had 12 fouls called to Athens 3.
This year will be a struggle all year though. I think next year will be the start of the turnaround for Meigs.

You have nobody to replace English and that alone will hurt.your going to need some freshmen to put on some big shoes next year. Good luck this and next year.

Didn't mean to offend.just know he is your best player and will be hard to replace.I didn't see anyone else with quite his ability on any of your teams.but did see some pretty good other players and yes I have seen some of them.good luck to all your kids.
