Re: waverly basketball 2014
So lets just jump on board since those other schools do it.....GREAT
How bout work with all that talent you have had. Plus, if your going to transfer a basketball player in...at least win a lot when they get there. Like maybe a league title every now and then

Couldn't say what in the earlier post but its official now. The Downtown Arena to get some very nice upgrades this year. Hawhee's Palace to stand another 45 years.

And just what are the expectations?
The memory of the glory days of Waverly basketball under Carroll Hawhee still lingers in the community.
Even though those winning days were 40 some years ago, it is my opnion Tiger fans still dream of a return
to that era of success on the hard court. Thus fan expectations tend to be higher than what reality dictates.
Not exactly fair to the current coaches and players.

Anyone know how the Tigers looked at their last scrimmage? And if so any freshman get some time, interested to see how some of the young kids develop?

smurray,
Any scores from any of the quarters? The 8th grade had some nice players last year, have any progressed enough to help this year?

Re: waverly basketball 2014
I remember a topic on here last year about Waverly consistently being on the good end of transfers, and Waverly fans (smurray) trying to refute it. Becomes more ironic each year and each transfer. Perhaps the OHSAA should look into these transfers coming in?
Re: waverly basketball 2014
How many of those play basketball? How many are seniors and averaged 20 ppg last year?smurray wrote:Funny we lost 6 kids to Eastern and one to Piketon this year.

Well don't forget we lost Rowe and Brewster, both would have played major roles in the next couple years for the Tigers.

Re: waverly basketball 2014
I wouldn't use Rowe as an example because he transferred into waverly from eastern then back to eastern then to minford, if anybody lost him it would be eastern, considering he has always and still does live in eastern school district, but I think this is a stupid topic , every school gets and loses transfers it's just part of the game today, waverly is not the only one who gets transfers. U can probaly think of any school, and name a few kids that have transferred in or out.

Re: waverly basketball 2014
Everybody bitches about transfers until the next big thing is transferring in to their program which then leads to a 180 on their stance. Same old story.*
Re: waverly basketball 2014
Talon Osborne went to Piketon. Michael Miller and parker Clemmons went to eastern. not sure who the other 4 that went to Eastern are. Maybe smurray can come back on and tell us.

Re: waverly basketball 2014
With football season winding down, time to start thinking about hoops. Lot of basketball players not playing football also. How are we looking in open gyms? Anyone have any thoughts on the upcoming season? I think Waverly will be a lot better than people think. I'm ready for some hoops!
Re: waverly basketball 2014
Not much expectation but I think the Tigers have the making to surprise some folks. If Mason Chapman improves and steps up like he has on the football field he could make some noise in the paint. Tigers should be good at the guard position and I hear Rigsby is coming along very nicely at forward. I look for the Tigers to do something different on offense this year, we'll see.
