Waverly Basketball 2014
Re: Waverly Basketball 2014
Any word on when we have a home scrimmage? I hear the newly renovated gym looks fantastic.
Re: Waverly Basketball 2014
The best gym in southeast Ohio looks even better and looks to get some major improvements next year as well.

Waverly will be taking on a team out of South Carolina by the name of Hammond High this year at the Buckeye Elite National Showcase on Dec.5 @ the Big Sandy Arena. Hammond has 1 of the top Juniors in the entire Country, Seventh Woods who is a Youtube sensation and this should be the single best player that our southern Ohio schools have matched up against. Check him out on YouTube and see what you think and make sure to come out and support our Tigers in this incredible Showdown.

Re: Waverly Basketball 2014
Offense has been an issue since Robertson took over. Not sure why. What is really weird is 2 of the top 4 scorers in Waverly history played during the Robertson era, yet how many games have we watched where Waverly barely breaks 40 pts for a game. But think about it, how many really good shooters have came through Waverly in the last few years? Who's fault is that? Coaches, kids, cycles of not having good shooters? You tell me? I know Kretzer could shoot the rock before he came to Waverly. Leading scorer from last year transferred in from Chilli. This years team probably have more shooters than we have had in the Robertson era. Definitely should not see many games in the 20's and 30's. Point guard returns, several juniors on this team with some playin time. I think this team could be alot better than people think.

I think Brewster's parents lived in Latham to begin with. He must have been a recruit who un-recruited.smurray wrote:and Ferguson to Piketon

They are resurfacing the floor, sanded down Friday. I will take some when the floor is done.
Re: Waverly Basketball 2014
From what I am gathering....the Tigers are a very young team and the leading scorer is Freshman (Ethan Adrian) coming off the bench.
In their first 2 games they have a faced a juggernaut team out of South Carolina and then traveled to Minford to take on the league favorite. The Tigers will continue to improve and get better throughout the course of the season and may be building a solid foundation for several years to follow. The young Tigers will play the first 5 games on the road as they await for the gymnasium floor to be completed. This team could be capable of making some noise come tourney time.

No senior experience on the floor at the moment. Dakota Garrett won't be available until game 12.
Tigers played a very good first half against Minford, down 1 at the break. The game was still in question at the end of 3 as the Tigers trailed by 9. These Tigers should improve as they learn to play together.
Freshman beat Minford (without several Freshman who play up), JV squad looked good in their win and Freshman Ethan Adrian looks very good as he lead the Tigers again with 16 points against Minford.
