Re: Lucasville Valley vs. Columbus Ready - Regional Champion
I'm sure there are ALWAYS a select few who show no lack of pride or sportsmanship, and I'm sorry you based your opinion of our community on those few who ruin it for everyone else. That being said, I'm assuming you missed the chanting of 50+ students chanting "we want Burg". I've been a part of this community my whole life, have children in the school system, coach many kids over the years, and it isn't perfect!!! But the support here, even for teams such as Wheelersburg lol, is amazing! Anyway, Ready and their defense amazed me! They're very disciplined and well-coached. Hopefully Valley will carry over the drive and desire they finished with last night!!!BillyHoyle42 wrote:I agree that cg-ironton fan's comment was uncalled for and just plain childish. I will, however disagree with one of your following statements in regards to Valley rooting for all local teams. I sat near the Valley section in both the District final and last night and both times a group of Valley parents and fans were rooting AGAINST the Burg. None of them knew a single player for Fairland or Ready, however they wanted to see the Pirates go down. I was shocked!AtomicIndian wrote:Lol really?? I love how people always look to point blame on the referees. Its never the players, coaching, lack of discipline or talent, etc...Coal Grove played a very good game against Valley, and should be commended. Regardless of the outcome of that game, or any of the others for that matter, Lucasville as a community wouldn't need a scape goat to place blame on, and would happily continue to root for ANY and ALL local teams!! Ready and Valley match up well. Readys defense is quick to swarm and are relentless. Should be an amazing, well-deserved elite 8 game for both teams!!!cg-ironton fan wrote:VALLEY deserves to get THUMPED the coal grove video is all over facebook and valley doesn't even deserve to be this far!!!
watch out READY the REFS are on VALLEY SIDE
But anyways....should be a good one on Saturday. I believe Valley can win, but they must play well.

Lets Go Indians! I wonder if the Valley staff will be in Canton this evening to look at potential opponents as weather delayed the match-ups last night.

Thats funny....I havent seen a trace of this video on Facebook and there is nothing on Youtube.
Sour grapes. OVC is normally always a step behind the SOC II, this game was no different. Get used to it.

I watched both games last night, and my feeling is that Valley can win this game, but they will have to deal with a sticky Bishop Ready defense. The Indians have a number of offensive weapons, which will be harder for the Knights to defend than Wheelersburg was.

Not here to argue but the grove lost period. There's no video you can show to change that. Coal grove did play better than valley and put themselves in a great position to win but they couldn't finish. But I think it is clear to everyone valley is the better team, I can understand your sourness because you were so close to beating them but the better team did win.
Re: Lucasville Valley vs. Columbus Ready - Regional Champion
Coal Grove fans....you say Valley should have lost to you, but what about the 46-44 win against River valley, or the OT win against NY....refs must have been on your side both games? Come on...
No matter how close, or what game...2 f bombs will get a T, EVERY TIME

Best of luck Indians! Hopefully we'll have lots of Southeastern Ohio teams in their respective Final 4s!

Out of Pfloyd's final elite 8 (or 9) the Indians played played 5 of them. They beat D-2 #3 Minford twice, beat D-2 #7 Unioto, and beat #4 Portsmouth last Sunday. The Indians only two losses came against D-2 #1 Warren and D-2 #5 Athens. The loss to Warren was a 1 point game going into the 4th quarter and the Athens loss came in double overtime. The Indians also beat your previous opponent Wheelersburg twice this season.

Re: Lucasville Valley vs. Columbus Ready - Regional Champion
As the historian for http://www.trojanhoops.org, I was interested in looking into Valley's state tournament history. The Indians made the state tournament in 1936 and 1937 when it was formatted in a Sweet 16 bracket. Winning the district title in those years advanced a team to the state tourney. The 2 appearances are considered official state appearances, but they were not Final 4 appearances. After 1943, the OHSAA changed the state tournament to include a regional tournament in 4 different geographical areas. After regional play, there would be 4 teams that made up the OHSAA state tournament. Valley's 1936 and 1937 appearances were accomplished when there were only 2 classes back then. The OHSAA went to a 3 class system starting in 1971, and then added another class (division) in 1988. Portsmouth won the very first D2 state championship that year. 4 of Portsmouth's 15 state appearances were not in the Final 4, those being 1925, 1926, 1939, and 1941.
Valley has plenty of motivation on Saturday night, but a win over Bishop Ready would give the Indians the first Final 4 appearance in school history. This year's team has already set the school mark for wins with 24.
As I have said earlier, Valley can win this game vs. Bishop Ready. The Silver Knights are a very good team, especially on the defensive end, but the Indians have the offensive weapons to win this regional final.

Good luck to the Indians. I hope they can win the Regional Championship.
If the officials let Ready play physical like they did against the Burg without calling a lot of fouls it could make it a a little difficult for Valley.
