PJ Rase. Pure Shooter right? Three out of his four high school years are in the top 30 per OHSAA for free throw percentage. College? He basically led the NATION (missed by less than a percentage point) barring any division; NAIA or NCAA. Pure Shooting ability.

Soooooo, he didn't lead the nation then. Saying he finished 2nd sounds better than saying someone basically did something. He was a great shooter though

Bret Roberts led the nation in scoring at the division 1 level in 1992.

Nickel back: Brett also got drafted in second round of 92 NBA draft by Sacramento Kings, but went baseball route after Minnesota Twins drafted him in fourth round of MLB draft the same year. Made it to AAA before retiring. One of the best all around athletes to ever come out of southeastern Ohio.*

I agree, had the opportunity to play in a tournament with him many Years ago. Maybe you can verify this but I don't even think he had a d1 offer until after he played in the north south game, morehead state ended up getting a steal.

Sean Smith - Minford 2009
Stefan Spriggs - Northwest 2009
Jarrod Swords - Portsmouth West 2005
Joey Preston - Minford 2005
Josh Campbell - South Webster 2007
Drew Spradlin - Wheelersburg 2010?
Ryan Borden - Oak Hill not sure of grad year
Are we naming the best shooters or giving shout outs to friends?

I could see Spradlin and if you are talking SOC, possibly Smith, but come on with the rest of these.

Just saw this response, and NO I am not just giving shout outs to friends. Joey Preston was I believe somewhere on the right side of 40% from the arc, Borden hit 2 clutch 3 pointers in a state title game, and was a known marskman(sp?). Jarrod Swords hit 10 threes in one tournament game to guide the 14 seeded Senators over SVC tournament champions Huntington Ross. Stefan Spriggs could stroke, and if you ask ANY basketball coach during his tenure at NW from any opponent their scouting report would of told you the same. Campbell could shoot it as well. When I created this list, I was considering some of the better more recent shooters that I could remember. The fact that you stated none of the rest could be considered some of the better shooter in the SOC II during their times made me have to respond to this old post, could not help it.

Mayo's younger brother shot the lights out for SP in 08 before transferring to Memphis when OJ got drafted ... He scored in the high 20's on average and mostly from outside/free throw line ... Led SP to 20-0 before losing to Ironton in Tourney

I seen both setty boys play alot in high school at Mason County (KY)..don't remember them playin high school basketball at Peebles so idk if u can really add them to the debate but if u do Trevor was a really good shooter..If u do consider them seein as they played in ky then why not consider Lofton and Miller from Mason County..Lofton is the best player I've ever seen play from that part of northern ky/se ohio..best 3 point shooter from that area easily..Miller one of the best forwards from the area if not the best, won NCAA title with UK and went on to play in the NBA..This debate could go diff ways it's according to wat area u wanna talk about

Actually agree with you. I don't include the Settys because neither made it to the high school level at Peebles, even if I do I don't think they show up near the top of the list. Lofton is the best shooter I have ever seen play, and possibly best guard period not including NBA games I've been too, and I've watched a good number of the people already mentioned.

stumble,
r.j was an excellent player but without the Australian recruits eastern would not have advanced as far as they did.

The Aussies made a difference for Eastern that year. The PG form Australia allowed RJ to be able to play off the ball and get more shots. RJ would have had to habndle the ball more if they didn't have the two Aussies.

Paul Cluxton is the best shooter that I have seen. I saw him score 53 points one night on 24 shots from the field. He was 7-7 from 2, and 11-17 from 3 on the night. He scored 2,111 career points. He went on to NKU and ended his career with a 98 consecutive free throw streak.

It goes to show you that great shooters does not equal great/ successful players after highschool. Many of these guys mentioned are in the top 10.
