Wheelersburg @ Minford 12-20-13
I think this will be a very good game - it always is. From what I hear Burg has been playing good here within the last couple weeks. The Falcons are on a winning streak and playing very good basketball. I think with Minford's speed and defense they'll win this game.

Burg has only played 3 games and has a 1-2 record. Burg played tough against Valley and only lost by 7 and easily handled SW by 30 last night. The opening loss against West was a very poor shooting performance and was their first game (no scrimmages) with Coach Ater. Overall Burg is pretty good, but has no post man. Burg will match up well against Minford, except for McCray. They will have to double down and try and deny him the ball as much as possible. D.Miller and Widdig will have to shoot well from the perimiter, but Burg has a chance in this one even though Minford is the favorite. I think Coach Ater has already brought some excitement back to Burg basketball. It has been several years since I have seen a Burg team put up 77 points like they did last night.

Make no mistake Burg has as much if not more speed than minford . I have seen both teams play and if Burg play minford like they did against Valley they will come away with a win....BBaller4Life wrote:I think this will be a very good game - it always is. Picking Falcons by 5 in a close one. May be a different story at the Burg but I think Minford wins at home. Does sound like After has them playing well in so far this year. Should be a good ballgame.

I don't think Burg has the horses to run in transition all game with Minford. I would expect Ater to continue his philosophy which is to run. I think Burg may be a little selective in transitioning which is fine, and would be beneficial in this case. How Healthy is McCray? He will be the difference if Burg goes outside Ater's usually game plan and trys to control tempo, as I don't think the pirates can consistently keep him from doing what he wants. If Minford shoots the ball well from the perimeter, Burg will probably not be able to focus as much as they would like on McCray in the painted area. I say Minford by about 12 to 20, give or take. If the game is tight into the 4th quarter, it will stay that way, due to the emotions and history recently with this game. Best of Luck to the Falcons, and stay injury free both teams.

Oh, Wheelersburg does have the horses to get up and down with Minford. The question is can they make enough shots. Based on the reports that I have gotten (and I trust them very much), Jared's health is fine, but as expected, his conditioning is way behind. I think if Burg speeds the game up, he will have a lot less impact. The Pirates had trouble with Valley on the blocks and Minford could do the same, if they are able to get Jared and Kenton in the paint.NewEra wrote:I don't think Burg has the horses to run in transition all game with Minford. I think these two will play two 5 point games this season, but with Shoe having a 3 week jump on Ater and the game in Muletown, I think this one goes to Minford.

Athletically I can see, but I really don't believe they do as far as scoring wise.

That is basically what I said. I guess I misread what you were saying. My thoughts are that Minford won't run Burg off the floor, but they will win because their athletes are better basketball players than Burg's.NewEra wrote:Athletically I can see, but I really don't believe they do as far as scoring wise.

On the contrary, Minford has put up 70+ in two of their 4 games played. You have Stapleton, Rowe, Kelley, and McCray now added to the mix, you have some shooting machines! Gullion is having a slow start this year but no doubt he'll start coming on, and then...watch out!
