Phil has won at all levels he has coached. He will get the kids out that should be playing. As far as evaluations, the BOEING will take care of that. Give him 3 years and Jackson a player in DII in SEOhio.

Sparky,
You know Howard and have seen him coach. What do you think about this hire for Jackson?

I will assist if sparky does....we both have coached teams with multiple regional banners hanging in a gym and both have DCOY awards. Sparky could be the wise old guy and I could be the young coach that is too excitable on the bench. Lolsparky wrote:I heard ironman 92 is going to be a volunteer asst. coach.
I'm sure Phil would love to have sparky on the bench....my services are maxed out as a fan, anything else in basketball and I'm over my head.

I think it is a good hire by Jackson, however, I am not sure how good of a hire it is for howard. I guess there is no way to go but up. glutton for punishment?

He might be a glutton for punishment but you know the team he took over at Western....he stuck with them and it worked out well.
Re: Jackson Boys BB Job?
Yea, he stuck with them, but just as importantly, they stuck with him during some rough times giving him the time needed to turn things around.
Sparky, are you only saying that because you used to beat the crap out of him in your head to head matchups?

I have a lot of respect for phil howard. if the powers to be (parents, fans, and admin.) give him time and support he will improve the program. but in the world of high school sports that is a big IF.

How about we just have some patience instead of the revolving door we have had in the last 10 years. What has there been 6 or so coaches in that time span? Stay calm, let the program develop, Rome wasn't built in a day. There is a reason the program currently suffers, and a high turnover in coaching is a major contributor. Next year wins will come and in two years .500 or better and in three to four a factor in the league. What business or sport or anything for that matter is successful with a 60% turnover rate.Regulator wrote:Actually did worse this yr, 0-21. Wow
Stay the course, support the program, encourage the offseason work. It's proven that it works, ask the parents from Vincent, Ohio and Warren. The athletes are here just need to get rid of the short term mindset in my opinion.
