Driving that far isn't fair to him or the kids. Let alone his family. I'm sure his job also requires him to stay with no notice and that would create an issue. Too bad he can't get back closer..........

Leave it to the Gazette to send out a story without talking to the coach or even giving him a chance to address his players as requested.

Jimmy pretty much said it all with all the stats. Numbers can be deceiving at times, but those ones don't lie. Coach L had great teams and players and got the job done with them. Takes a special coach to take talent and win championships and do what many said was impossible...Final 4 at Piketon. Coach L and those teams took on all comers all over the state and won some games against the big boys. What more can be said other than he will be missed and The Redstreak Nation wishes him luck.

Chef who's on the short order list to fill this spot?

Coach L left a full pantry of talent for the next bistro baron of Piketon Basketball.

Will the Streaks stay with in the program?
It's not like they are in a situation where they don't have

X: Coach L leaving second time was bit of surprise to many after it had come up once earlier and he was staying. Little late in the process to go on the prospect for next coach. The past varsity assistants who have jobs in other fields have moved on and have no interest The Chef is told. The Chef looks for several already employed coaches and a few "ringers" to take a long look at the menu in Piketon...

The Oven Menu
- Amenities...one of the nicest facility's in southern Ohio...arguably nicest...centrally located in district
- Upscale dining...Piketon pays as good or better in all of District
- Friendly Owners...administration is stable and supportive and very little coaching turnover under their watch
- Cupboard...returning maybe best player in SVC in Jeremy Farmer, starter Brewster, 6-7 big man Southworth, several other good players
- Side dishes...some good young underclassmen on the way
- "Special" entrees (transfers) imported in from time to time
- Returning clientele...Redstreak Nation fans and support takes a backseat to no other school
- Dining experience...great success recently as the kids expect to win

Anyone have any insight to possible applicants? Within the school system? Outside the school system?

Yes there is a lot of talent coming back and the will have a good season. The only thing is the coach got screwed out of a good summers work and then worst of all of the kids got screwed by not having their coach for the summer. I don't care one bit Jeff is leaving but how it was done was so unprofessional. I'm glad the drama is over - see ya.

Disagree...the man tried to stay..his job wouldn't let him...drove from Dayton to Piketon every night last season....and is still coaching the kids over the summer until a new coach is selected. (Apparently you have no clue) The kids went 15-5 this summer against tough competition and will play again this weekend and he is still coaching and teaching them the game. Taking a look around the state..a lot of coaching jobs are open...I wonder if the old coach is still helping the program? Probably not! Yes the drama is over...but I don't think anything was unprofessional.

... no grudges held by this basketball fan concerning Coach Lisath's departure from Piketon ... life dictates ones next move in life sometimes - I am grateful to have had the opportunity to see Coach Lisath's TEAMS the past 9 years here in Southern Ohio ... all of the boys that went through Coach's program are better players, people for having done so ... Am I disappointed that Coach Lisath will not be court side this season for the Red Streaks? absolutely!!! anytime a coach of the caliber of Coach Lisath leaves the " basketball family" Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line I'm saddened - the high school basketball force Below the Line is weakened when we lose great court side leaders ... I wish Coach Lisath nothing but the best in whatever he does in life beyond Piketon hoops ...

... Piketon will have a quality team this season ... some very solid players returning to anchor TEAM Piketon ... best of luck to Piketon in coming up with the best fit for Piketon Basketball at the coaching position, no matter who takes the reigns this hoops fan will be keeping a close eye on the Red Streaks in the 2013-14 campaign ...

I was very impressed but not surprised by the heart and determination of the Piketon Redstreaks all summer and especially in the Bannon Park Classic. I can't tell you how much I will miss the kids, the school, Administration, the community, and the best Coaching Staff in the State. What great memories I will have about nine great years of coaching some super young men. It seems every year I found myself saying this is my favorite team ...as I did at the beginning of summer when I thought I was coming back to coach. To me...Piketon is the best kept secret in the SE. Great facilities, Great Administrative support, Great Kids & Coaches, and coaches are compensated for their efforts. I wish the next coach great success, as you will be blessed with another great team and more to follow. So many reasons why it was hard to leave...that's why I'm kicking & screaming out the door. :12223 My final words will go to a few people who helped me build over the years. Thanks to Scott Legg, Tom Kelly, Tyler Williams, Jim Stanley, Steve Cunningham, Mark Hannah, Mike Martin, Bud Brabson, Kyle Miller, Joel Shepherd, Eric Devlin, Mike London, Nathan Childers, Gene Bumgardner, Gary Veach, Kyle Pertuset, Kevin Moore, Darren Vulgamore and to (Scott, Dave, Rudy, Jason) four Athletic Directors I had the pleasure of working under.
Scott Legg is Mr. Basketball in so many ways at Piketon...a great coach, friend, historian, teacher of the game, and the key to our success.
Dr. Todd Burkitt....Thanks for believing in me and taking a chance.

Great post Coach. You will certainly be missed in southern Ohio. Any word on who some of the applicants are? Who is a front runner? I'm surprised this is such a quiet forum. This is a great opportunity!

Attended some of the Bannon Park Classic and saw some positive areas for the Streaks. Also, very nice to see Coach L's staff on the sideline even though there hasn't been a coach hired yet.

By reading the post of the former Redstreaks coach it appeared to me he gave a pretty clear opinion of who he feels should take the program over.

At our home growing up we had two items overlooking our dinner table,
One a visage of Jesus
and
the other was a sign that read:
Annoying the "Chef"
Will result in
Smaller portions!

Those that set at the table
Of choosing Piketons next
Coach should heed that warning!
And not take too long in naming
A replacement
