Coaching Vacancies 2020-2021
Re: Coaching Vacancies 2020-2021
And the Circus continues. HS sports is reeling. So hard to get an established program with sooo many changes every 2-3 years. God bless all the programs

What if the people running the programs aren't doing a good job? What's the cutoff (2-3-4 years) on how long you give them before they run a program into the ground?
Re: Coaching Vacancies 2020-2021
That’s another issue. There’s Some bad hires, thus the quick turnover. Some people should be dumped after 1-2 years. Others , get screwed, who should get more years.Statesville Slayer wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 10:07 am What if the people running the programs aren't doing a good job? Hopefully West chooses the correct personBig Blue Nation wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2020 9:42 am I heard there are three candidates for the West job .... an assistant from last year, a former head coach of West, and a former head coach of a neighboring school.

Slim pickings and/or some people just don’t want to be head coaches.

This is ridiculous.
Most schools have been conducting workouts this entire month in some way. Many others have been giving home workouts to do this entire time.
Whomever gets hired at those schools are already behind the 8 ball on the most important time for player development of the year

Last time I checked, the new coach can't hire himself. Why have I always thought that the school board had something to do in this matter ?
Re: Coaching Vacancies 2020-2021
I should have given a little more thought to my last post. Maybe it's going to be a 2 for 1, or a 1 for 2, maybe 1 person to coach both the Boys and the Girls teams ?VetteMan wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 8:58 pmdanicalifornia wrote: Thu Jun 25, 2020 1:30 pm This is ridiculous.

Given the current financial uncertainty facing school boards during the pandemic, open coaching slots may not be filled with a new hire or offered only on a one coach for two or more sports basis. That arrangement was not uncommon in SEO back in 50's and 60's. It can be done and if the money crunch is indeed real, it might become the norm rather than the exception
