Most Free Throws by a team in one game this year?
Most Free Throws by a team in one game this year?
Glancing through the Jackson Telegram to see that in the Wellston @ Oak Hill game that Wellston was put on the line for 41 free throws.
That’s quite the number. Has anyone seen more this year? I think the most I have seen was 28 when Hillsboro had that many while hosting Jackson.

We’ve shot 15 twice
I coached a JV game where 60 were shot between the two teams, we shot 24 of those. And no, it wasn’t fun

I feel like we had nearly 70 in a NB-Green game early in the year. I am not thinking we have approached 30 since.

I know they can be nicely inflated at the end of games. I know Jackson shot around 14 free throws in the last 2 min of our first game with Hillsboro as they kept fouling to try to come back.....but at what point in the game with very high numbers do you have the players to contest without fouling? Be long as you can and in the path of the ball flight as much as possible but make the offensive player earn it by finishing? It seems worse in the girls games but so many times there is little chance the offensive player can finish but gets bailed out by a lazy/undisciplined foul.

I think Hillsboro shot 28 against us as well and only 2 of those were late trying to extend the game. We shot 8 that game. That’s the most alarming is the spread between teams. I noticed it last year tho that’s just Hillsboro style. I think they practice that head flail and run yourself into the wall on purpose type offense and defense. Seems to be working for them so far. Tournament time not so muchIronman92 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 11:18 am Glancing through the Jackson Telegram to see that in the Wellston @ Oak Hill game that Wellston was put on the line for 41 free throws.

yep first 15 minutes of practice is spent on running into walls....rest of practice is dedicated to offensive rebounding and playing defense and backdoor screen offensemlittle wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 11:47 amI think Hillsboro shot 28 against us as well and only 2 of those were late trying to extend the game. Kills me seeing all these games with teams shooting 30 free throws. Lol. I bet there hasn’t been an svc league game where a team shot 30 in a game in the last decade.Cameron34Crazie34 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:40 pmWaverly had 35 and Burg had 27Ironman92 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:34 pmBut what was most one of the teams had?Cameron34Crazie34 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:22 pm West at Waverly I believe there was 62 foul shots shot then West’s next game at Burg I believe there was 40 shot

Oak Hill is the most hostile gym I’ve ever been in, except for the old burg gym.
Eff both of them places
Re: Most Free Throws by a team in one game this year?
Piketon shot 34 against Huntington this year, while Huntington shot 20
Re: Most Free Throws by a team in one game this year?
I didn’t intend for this to be a thread about getting homered or poor officiating...just wondered the most free throws by a team in any one game this year.
30 seems like a huge amount in a game of 32 minutes
Style of play and skill level and how game is officiated plays a big role. If a team is really going all out on defensive pressure but maybe not greatly skilled the number could get high. So many teams shoot so many 3’s nowadays it seems like anything over 20 is quite high.

Goi g through some of Pfloyd’s napkin stat rundowns I see most of he games he’s listed are about 20-25 total free throws for the game. Portsmouth vs Chesapeake had 7 combined free throws.
