Hiland players are very strong with their hands. That hurt us a bit in last year's game at the Convo in the final 2 minutes of that game. You guys have that football strength to help with that. Close out and don't settle. Good luck and safe travels.

Yea,, Howie and his teams really annoy me. They play the old school/ right way to play high school ball.... Block out and make free throws and do not for the most part take unnecessary shots and do not turn the ball over... Great Basket ball IQ ... This day and age, if his kids continue to buy into his program he could coach till he's 100. Just wish a certain program i follow could ever learn this specially when its probably had more than the last 2 years than Trimble.

This is not the most talented team Hiland has had, over the last four years playing at regionals, after we had two of our starters go down with nee injury's before the season started, but this team has to have the biggest heart of any Hiland team I have ever seen to knockoff a very very good Malvern team that had everybody back from last team, and two post players that are 6'6"and 6'5",this Hiland team plays very good man defense, were not a very tall team, tallest at player at 6'2",this should be a good defensive battle

I guess the long trip to Ross Southeastern h.s., didn't bother our girls team this past Saturday, hopefully our boys will come ready to play, like I said in a early post, this Hawks team was in no way supposed to get out of the district tournament this season, and any win from here on out is icing on the cake for this team

Hiland seems to win a lot in Chillicothe (and well, everywhere else too) so the bus trip won’t bother them.

I’m looking forward to this one

May as well fire up the batting cages at Highland because Howie is on a mission to get back to the final 4. Too much coaching, and too much "hand strength" on those football players for Highland to overcome.

Does Howdey have them boys doing them polymetrics and that lift where you grab the wait and just jump up in the air with it. Thats the only wit liftin to do because the rest of that stuff just throws off yer shot.

Go for 3, coach. Pour it on!

Fun facts heading into the DIV Regional Semi-Final between Trimble (20-3) and Berlin Hiland (18-8).

Did you know the Tomcats win over Fairfield Saturday was their 8th district title - and 4th in the last seven years under head Coach Howie Caldwell? Unfortunately, Trimble has never won a regional tournament game and will take an (0-7) regional record into Tuesday's showdown with the Hawks. This will also not be the first time the two programs have met. The DIV regional semi-final in Chillicothe will serve as a rematch of a game that took place 29 years ago in Pickerington.

Heading into the 1991/1992 season the Trimble boys basketball team was picked to finish dead last in the TVC by area sportswriters and coaches, but the 'Cats proved the naysayers wrong with an outstanding regular season that led to a district championship. Trimble, which finished behind league champion Belpre in the final TVC standings, navigated its way through the DIV bracket before beating a young, talented head coach named Howie Caldwell and the Southern Tornadoes in the DIV district title game at the Convo. The win set the 'Cats up with a date against state ranked Berlin Hiland in the regional semi-finals at Pickerington High School.

Despite all its talent led by all league selections Charlie Gatchel, Davey Gatchel and current assistant coach Reuben Kittle, Trimble was no match for the star studded Hawks. After a barrage of three-point bombs in the first quarter, Hiland would go on to hammer the Tomcats 106-65 and end their season without a regional win. The Hawks advanced to the state tournament and eventually won the DIV state championship after beating Gilmour Academy in the finals. Hiland scored 2,260 points that year, which is the 17th most in the history of Ohio high school boys basketball. The program has earned 11 regional championships and state tournament appearances - and has won 3 state titles since 1992.

Trimbles regional games under Howie Caldwell.

2015: Africentric 55, Trimble 47
2016: Africentric 63, Trimble 57
2020: Grandview Heights 62, Trimble 32
2021: Trimble?, Hiland?
