Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
Just my opinion but truly believe meigs wins the ohio division this year, after a sloppy loss to alexander there now on a vengeance tour winning their last two games (nelsonville 66-38) and (southeastern 74-36). And they have all the young talent in the world and a great senior leader in Coulter Cleland. I expect meigs to be somewhere at the top this year whether they win it all or not
Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
They might win it--but they have to go thru Vinton County.......

Southern (4-4),(0-3)
Eastern (0-8),(0-3)
TVC standings Christmas edition: with the 2022 portion of the schedule just days away, three teams remain unbeaten in league play, Vinton County, Federal Hocking and the Trimble Tomcats. The Lancers picked up a huge 55-53 win over Waterford Tuesday behind Tariq Cottrill’s 24 points, which allowed them to keep pace with the Tomcats in the TVC-Hocking. The first match-up between the Athens County rivals will take place Jan. 14th in Glouster. Speaking of the ‘Cats, they crossed off one potential pitfall when they went on the road and defeated South Gallia 71-43. Crown City is never an easy place to win a basketball game. Trimble also defeated Fort Frye 61-34 at the Marietta College Shootout on Thursday and will have a very interesting and challenging game next Thursday versus Coulter Clealand and the Meigs Marauders (6-3) in Rock Springs.
In the Ohio Division it is still anyone’s guess who might take the crown, but perennial power Vinton County has taken a step forward and remain the only undefeated team in league play after its 55-36 win over Athens. But the Vikings (4-3),(3-0) wins have come against the bottom three teams in the Ohio. Back to back games at Meigs and at Alexander are on tap to start the New Year for VC. The Wellston Golden Rockets fell one game back after a surprising loss to River Valley Tuesday and Meigs has looked sharp lately after cruising past Nelsonville-York 66-38 and beating Southeastern 76-38 on Wednesday. The Marauders have a date with Southern next week and could very well be on a three game winning streak when Trimble comes to town next Thursday night.

VC grad, River Valley played well and was hot from the three point line. Wellston jumped out to a 10-0
lead. River Valley only lost to Vinton County by 4. I believe they are capable beating any team in the league. Wellston definitely did not play their best game.

Meigs suffers loss to trimble 66-51, very one sided calls. But that being said Coach Howie out coached Hill. Meigs will definitely jump back they have unfinished business

Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
Meigs has a really nice team but you wasn't watching the same game I was.It was a very physical, competitive and emotional game by the kids from both teams...not wanting to back down.Officials let them play...maybe a little too much at times but calls were far from one sided. You better bring the intensity when you play a Caldwell coached team and Meigs tried to do that.Trimble is just really good.I definitely think Meigs wins the Ohio division though...JMOTvcfanatic wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:48 pm Meigs suffers loss to trimble 66-51, very one sided calls. TVC Standings New Year’s edition:
What we learned in 2021
The Trimble Tomcats are good, really good - and with the return of Bryce Downs this week – they looked even better. Trimble defeated country rival Nelsonville-York 71-31 on Tuesday, and then went on the road and beat TVC-Ohio contender Meigs by 15 to improve to a perfect (9-0) on the season. Senior Blake Guffey scored a game high 24 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and blocked three shots for the ‘Cats, who have beaten every team on their schedule by double digits so far.
Federal Hocking is better than what many expected after losing so many starters from last year’s district runner-up team. Tariq Cottrill, Andrew Airhart, Lane Smith, Tyler Rogers and Caden Chapman have proven to be pretty good ball players and the Lancers have been playing excellent team basketball. After a 70-45 blowout win at South Gallia Monday night, Federal Hocking is 6-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the TVC-Hocking.
The TVC-Ohio is a jumbled mess and it is anyone’s guess why may emerge as the champion. Vinton County has taken a half step forward and is 6-3 with a 3-0 mark in league play. One thing we learned though is Alexander junior Kyler D’Augustino is the real deal. He is capable of putting the Spartans on his back and carrying them to wins over any team in the Ohio. On Thursday night the 6’1 SG broke the school record by scoring a game high 43 points during a loss at Waterford.
Story lines for 2022
Can Trimble run the gauntlet and finish a perfect 22-0? The Tomcats have already cleared a few hurdles, winning at Meigs, beating Waterford to go along with impressive blowout victories over Caldwell and Fort Frye. So what’s left? A rematch in Waterford, two games versus Federal Hocking, a trip to Chesapeake and a home date with D’Augustinio and the Spartans, who beat them last year in Albany.
Who comes out on top in the Ohio? After its win over Marietta Thursday, Vinton County is gaining more and more confidence and does have the early advantage with no league loses to start the new year. But the Vikings three Ohio Division wins have come against the bottom three teams in the league. They will travel to Meigs next Tuesday, then to the Alley on Friday before welcoming rival Wellston to McArthur the following week.
Will Athens win a league game this year? The Bulldogs have never finished last in the Ohio Division since joining in 2008, let alone go winless. Given the amount of parity, it’s hard to imagine they won’t win a few games in conference this season, but as it stands right now the ‘Dogs are 0-3. Athens lost to Nelsonville-York 47-40 at home, were beaten at Vinton County 55-36 and lost by 15 at Meigs. They have a home date with Wellston Tuesday before traveling to Bidwell next Friday night.
Vinton County (6-3),(3-0)
Meigs (7-4),(3-1)
Wellston (5-4),(2-1)
Alexander (4-7),(2-1)
Nelsonville-York (3-6),(1-3)
River Valley (2-7),(1-3)
Athens (1-7),(0-3)
Trimble (9-0),(4-0)
Federal Hocking (6-3),(4-0)
Waterford (6-3),(2-2)
South Gallia (3-3),(1-2)
Belpre (2-7),(1-2)
Southern (4-6),(0-3)
Eastern (0-10),(0-3)

Re: Official TVC Boys Basketball Thread
One sided calls? No, Trimble beat the brakes off of Meigs, just like they have everyone else this year, and there weren't any calls that were going to make up for that. It's a shame that some fans complain about the refs after a loss even when they play at home. Yet I've never seen any of them credit the refs when they win LOL.Tvcfanatic wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:48 pm Meigs suffers loss to trimble 66-51, very one sided calls.
