Good work
Jackson’s losses are to teams that combine for a 131-35 record
Worst loss was @ 13-7 Unioto and that was in OT after blowing opportunities in late regulation

Western Brown

Jackson good season for their youth....not sure we want to see them in the tournament
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
... I looked at the overall schedule for Jackson a few weeks ago - outstanding top to bottom ... great prep for the post season, even better prep for the youngsters in getting ready to breakout next season ... Jackson is on my "youngsters THIS season/breakout season NEXT season" ... Jackson, Warren, Unioto, Eastern Brown, Circleville, Manchester, Chesapeake, Trimble , Fairland, Ironton, Peebles are among those on my list ...Ironman92 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 1:54 pm Good work

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
The fundamentally sound defensive teams have given Jackson trouble and especially if they have a 6’6 because they’ve struggled in defending with everyone under 6’2….but they are improving in all areas and in my opinion arguably Coach Morrow’s best coaching jobs. I’ll be surprised if they win more than 1 game (assuming a 13 seed and a play in type of game)….if the right matchup they can win a sectional. Of the 12 teams above them, I think they could beat 5 of them on a good night….I know they can beat 3 of them.Hookshot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:20 pmAgree about Jackson. What are the key wins for the Ironmen?
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
They hammered 13-6 Alexander at Alexander and led from start to finish and half a 20 point lead in W at Washington CH…Washington was without both Haithcock’s who IMO are the 3rd/4th and 5th best players on that team. They were at home and had 6’6 probably POY LeMaster, all leaguer Wall at PG and stud athlete Bearden and two guys starting were quicker than any player we had.
Good matchups against Chesapeake and Vinton County upcoming…should be good games. Still have South Point which will be tough.
Would love to play South Webster again and another crack at Wheelersburg. Depth is a bit of an issue on back to backs. Not saying we’d win but would just like to see them play again. We are incredibly similar to Unioto IMO.

I liked what I saw out of the youngsters when they played Unioto. I think very highly of Coach Morrow, so I’m not surprised by their improvement throughout the year.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:07 pmThey hammered 13-6 Alexander at Alexander and led from start to finish and half a 20 point lead in W at Washington CH…Washington was without both Haithcock’s who IMO are the 3rd/4th and 5th best players on that team. Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
Me too. After we went 3-15 at OU last year and won twice in the Jackson Summer League, I was hoping we would get to .500 (the SVC has 8 fairly automatic wins) so I’m pleased at this point.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:26 pmI was hoping for 7-9 wins this year…if they crack .500 when it’s done I’ll be thoroughly impressed.danicalifornia wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:17 pmI liked what I saw out of the youngsters when they played Unioto. Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
I know being consistent can be a challenge when covering so many teams. You do a great job getting eyes on teams and ranking them for us to debate over. The middle is toughest to sort and I do think 16-40 could be ranked better in several places.
Still think you have Westfall, Alex and VC too high. Last week Westfall was 0-2 and didn't budge. VC loses by 15 to New Hope and doesn't considerably drop. Chesapeake loses 2 this week and ... Western wins 2 and doesn't move. Green loses at ND close and drops 5 or 6 spots. Just don't think you nailed the movement of that 16-40 range this week.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
I’ll just throw out some rational on Westfall and VC. Westfall lost in OT to a ZT team that is ranked much higher, I did expect a slight drop with the type of loss that they had to PV though. As for VC, pfloyd and I both watched New Hope absolutely destroy Athens earlier this year, so the Statesmen are quite solid. The size of the loss was pretty big though.socsportsfan1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:01 pm I know being consistent can be a challenge when covering so many teams. Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
I completely agree with you. The margin to PV was the bigger issue for Westfall. I know New Hope is solid, again margin. They also recently beat Westfall. Green and Eastern Pike both have beaten New Hope at New Hope in the past 3 weeks and I don't feel those factors reflected as accurately in the rankings.
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
Sounds like he’s not convinced on the strength of the SOC 1…he often makes them really prove themselves most years. Green and Eastern beating New Hope has merit with your post. SOC 1 doesn’t often collect a lot of good out of conference wins. New Boston and Western have helped that cause in recent years and tourney success has too. Notre Dame and Grren may add to it this year. It’s tough being the very smallest of schools. Some cool gyms and proud teams in that portion of the league. I’m glad none of them have consolidated and are still representing. East seems to be improving, hopefully Clay works it’s way back too.socsportsfan1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 10:01 pm I know being consistent can be a challenge when covering so many teams. Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week 10 (The Draw)
That was part of my argument without overtly stating it. If your not sold on the strength of the SOC I then why move ND up 5 spots and Green down for a close game. There are several good non-league showings out of some of those schools that I don't think were equally applied to the rankings. I agree with your assessment in general.
I think this is one of the years with the most parity between D2 and D4 that we have seen. A lot of youth it appears across the district and this year more than most I think some of the more solid D4 teams can compete with and beat some of the D2 and D3 who are not as strong as they have been. There are more examples of it this year than I think I can recall in recent years.
It will all settle itself out in the end as it does anyway (just not necessarily in pfloyd's rankings). I'm not sure I'd be that shocked by any team beating any of the others in that 16-40 range.

How did Meigs take the Ironmen to OT last week? They are in 2nd to last place in the TVC-Ohio behind 7-12 Wellston and 6-13 Athens.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 8:07 pmThey hammered 13-6 Alexander at Alexander and led from start to finish and half a 20 point lead in W at Washington CH…Washington was without both Haithcock’s who IMO are the 3rd/4th and 5th best players on that team.
