Portsmouth's DeAndre Berry and Donnovan Breech receive All-State Honors

Post by trojandave »

Congratulations to both DeAndre Berry for being named 2nd team D3 All-State, and to Donnovan Breech for making Honorable Mention D3 All-State.

It was a very good year for individual and team accomplishments in both boys and girls basketball:

1. The Lady Trojans made the 1st Final 4 in PHS girls basketball history
2. The boys won the 1st sectional for PHS since 2017
3. Sienna Allen makes 1st team D3 All-State, while Daysha Reid makes 3rd team All-State
4. DeAndre Berry and Donnovan Breech make 2nd team and Honorable Mention D3 All-State, respectively
5. Coach Jeff Lisath became the 3rd winningest 1st year coach at PHS, going 17-7
6. PHS finishes tied for 2nd in the OVC (10-4), best finish since 2016
7. PHS sweeps Ironton and breaks a 10 game losing streak vs. IHS
8. PHS was an OVC best 6-1 in road conference games
9. DeAndre Berry scores 1,264 points for his career, good for 6th place all time at PHS
10. DeAndre Berry scores 40 points vs. Rock Hill, only the 5th time in history for a PHS player to score at least 40 points in a game

Add Malachi Loper to the list of individual awards. A junior, Loper was named Honorable Mention All-OVC. He has scored a career total of 907 points thus far, and should pass 1,000 early on in the 2024-25 season. Malachi also made 3rd team All-SE District, averaging 10.6 PPG.
